I'm also observing this on some channels during live-tv, crackels in sound and minor lagging. If I quickly pause/resume the lagging goes away but not the crackeling.

Unlike most of the above, I am getting this on my recordings. It appears to be program specific as the recordings with "big" sound tracks are the worst. If I watch through comercials, they are usually ok but as soon as the movie comes back on, it starts again. I do note that on my dual core proccessor, 1 is running really high and the other not so much. The usage is stated as being about 60% which seems quite high. Any thoughts?

What decoders are you using? And what renderer? The decoder settings button [(...) next to decoder choice in settings] should say wheter dxva is enabled.

Nice 1 Reddwarf. I had been concentrating on the audio side rather than the video side. I am using EVR and ffdshow for H264 playback. Trying the ffdshow with DXVA resulted in a frozen green screen with audio still running. However the PDVD10 option seems to do the trick. Thanks for the tip Smile

Finding the best combination of renderer/decoder is almost always a matter of cut-and-try, glad you got it working.

The audio stuttering seems even worse if you use something like ac3filter to encode the output to spdif. I guess it doesn't like the dodgy input stream it's getting.

I'm not sure the input stream is dodgy, because if you pause and play from hard drive the audio is fine. It just seems to be whatever way the live audio is sent to the soundcard, the buffer seems to keep getting depleted.
