client can't playback recordings

I had a peak at the logs after I sent them... noticed that I had not put in my channel logos on the client. I hoped that it was just a glitch... Anyway... I added the logos.. they show up in the TV Guide and in the Recording details screen that offers to 'Play'... but then it seizes...

Your problem wont be to do with the channel logos. I'm pretty sure it'll be what I said above - either you've entered the wrong server name, or your have firewall software getting in the way.

I have double checked permissions on the share (I hope it's not a win7, session 0 issue - because that doesn't get across networks)
disabled Microsoft essentials protection... no firewall

does npvr use the same rendering graph with video library as recordings? In other words if it renders in video library, should that part be fine in recordings?

No, it doenst. When you're playing from the video library, you're effectively playing from local file systems. When you play live tv, or recordings, they're streamed across the network with no file system used. Its this streaming that's not working for you, presumably because the connection is not being established (because of firewall or servername).

Yes I did... and that was the magical hint...

There was a firewall on the server (don't know why) and voila... it's working... and slick too.. First time I can watch recorded and liveTV... :-)
