They have a lot more of their own custom components, like inteligent demux which delivers only i-frames etc, wheras this is a one man development project which doesnt have time to develop this type of stuff and instead uses standard components like the Microsoft demux.

Ok I appreciate that. Is a custom Demux something that could be developed by a knowledgable person (obviously not me) as a contribution to nPVR.

I am sure I am talking total nonsense now ...

ah, I knew I wasn't crazy. you did add the 2X play capability back into GB-PVR/PVRX2 with a patch in 1.2.9. when I tried it in 1.3.11 it did work sort of, but I didn't get good results with it likely due to my decoder and I doubt I ever tried it again. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post274815. you're right of course, it couldn't go backwards at 2x speed, only forwards.

It did seem pretty popular for those who got it working.

Ok - your memory must be better than mine on that one. Still not worth the effort in NextPVR for 2x forward only.
