For the record:
The Nrecord service start-up was set to disabled. Can be set to start automatically via My Computer - Manage Computer - Services - Properties

Thats odd. I cant think how it would have been set to disabled, unless you'd manually set it that way.

Glad to hear you found a solution though.

Another possibility here:

I purchased a new router (Netgear WNDR4500) that allows you to share out a USB drive. I mounted the USB drive as a share (drive USmile on my Windows XP box and pointed NPVR's pause buffer and recording directory at the mounted share. NPVR got the error in this thread. I could not review Live TV, nor record anything. If I ran "nrecord.exe RUN" manually, it was OK. I imagine that this is because "U:" wasn't mounted system-wide---only my login could see it, not the NPVR Recording Service.

Solution: I put the UNC itself into NPVR, not the mapped drive: "\\readyshare\disk1\WinTV\RecordingDir\". I restarted the recording service and NPVR, and it's now working OK. Another solution would be to mount the "U:" drive system wide, if possible, but I just went with the UNC.

I am having the same issue. When I try to delete a show after watching, I select the show, select delete, select Okay, and receive "target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8968" error and NextPVR freezes. I have to open task manager and close program and use Windows Explorer to delete file. It work well until about a week ago while I was out of town. The NEXTPVR log is:

2016-03-23 15:39:39.010 [DEBUG][1] Calling dispose on old popup(2): ShowDetailsPopup
2016-03-23 15:39:39.010 [DEBUG][1] ShowDetailsPopup.Dispose()

2016-03-23 15:40:48.306 [INFO][1] Done.

I am running windows 8.3 and NextPVR 3.6.6. Any suggestions for a non-techi?

Welcome to the forum!

it's normally a better idea to post a new thread that resurrecting a 5 years old thread. NextPVR has changed quite a bit in the intervening years.
Can you reproduce the problem and have you tried disabling the windows firewall to see if this fixes the issue (Control Panel>System Security>Windows Firewall).
Odd that this should have just started happening though. Where is K: located, an internal disk or on a remote disk/NAS?

You should at least read the sticky before posting. Uploading of logs is typically required for support. Actively refusal is typically not a proper firewall response it is more likely your recording service is not running. In my environment if a network drive is not available when I start a recording NRecord will often crash and I would likely get that error. Logs show all this.

Depends on the firewall. Some firewalls reject connections (i.e. actively refuse), others drop. Some reject lan packets, but drop WAN packets. Logs definitely needed, but I wouldn't take that message to mean it's not the firewall.

The thing is I can't remember seeing the windows remoting functions ever giving this error on a firewall.
