All I use is LiveTV and it fails all the time, every time. So I can't help you with the non-live stuff.

I have the same problem with LiveTV and recordings in progress. Once a recording is completed, the problem disappears. However, the problem reappears once I convert my recordings into h264 ts files (from the original mpeg files). I know that my process of converting seems to create a lot of problems and so this problem with completed recordings will probably happen only to me, but since the symptoms are very similar to LiveTV and what others described, I did what you requested, in case it helps.

The scenario:
I play the file, press Ctrl + right arrow twice, press Ctrl+Q twice, press Ctrl + Right arrow and then press Ctlr + left arrow. Finally I press escape to quit.

This is what happens:
- After pressing Ctrl + right arrow twice, the video fast forwards to about the 2:20 mark.
- The first Ctrl+Q pauses the video. Pressing it again starts playing it from about 2:30).
- After this, pressing both Ctrl + right and Ctrl + left arrow results in going back to the same point at which the video started playing again after pressing Ctrl+Q the second time (~2:30 mark).

For several weeks I have had a problem with playback on my client where it looks like the position information sometimes stops being updated. So sometimes if I press "skip forward" it actually skips back to the last location there was an update for. Each time you press Skip it takes you back to the same point. Pressing "Stop" then selecting "Resume" takes you back again to the same point but now skip works. Replacing unmanaged.dll with the old one from R1 patches cures the problem

Does it occur on the server PC itself, or just the client PC?

I dont play recordings much on the server but just played one and tried jumping forward and backwards many times. The server is still using R2 unmanaged.dll where as the client is now using the older R1 version. The Server does not behave the same and was able to skip through a 1 hour recording without the problem. However the after trying several recordings "Skip back" seems to go back only about 1-2 seconds and "Skip Forward" jumps about 1 1/2 minutes.

Changing the server to R1 unmanaged.dll I can now skip back about 10 seconds per skip and repeat skips now make it possible progress backwards. Skip forward on the server is still almost 1 1/2 minutes but have just checked and the client skips forward almost exactly 1 minute and back exactly 1/2 minute.

I have gone back to R1, so now I am fine, but with the R2 files the same thing happened on both the client and server, as described above. After pausing live TV, it happened every single time I tried to skip, both on analog and digital channels.

I see 29 people have re-downloaded the R1 patch now, in addition to those who still had a copy of R1 and reverted to it (or at least reverted the offending Unmanaged.dll to the R1 version). I imagine everyone understands this, but it bears repeating that reverting to R1 is just a band-aid for now - nothing will be fixed by this and the same problem will carry forward to the next release of NPVR. I guess at that point then you'll have no choice but to work through the problem and get a real fix.

I for one do not understand what you are saying here - what your bottom line message is.

I can confirm this behaviour... when playing a recording on a *client*, ctrl-rightarrow works properly only if ctrl-Q has not been used, otherwise ctrl-rightarrow skips to the point where ctrl-Q was last used. On the server it seems to work properly all the time. (2.2.6 + R2 patches).
