It's not on the apps store, you'll find more info here. http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/foru...smart-hub/

Quote:Or perhaps you're talking about the Plex Media Server? I'll have to check it out. Right now I'm running Serviio to access my NVPVR videos. Serviio is a little faster on the TV and automatically adds new recordings to the playlist, unlike Samsung's AllShare server.

No I a talking about the Samsung Plex client with the features I think you would like not one of the UPnP solutions. It does use PMS but not like a UPnP server.

cncb Wrote:Interesting. I am considering a Samsung blu-ray player to run Plex but it's not clear if it will support HD audio output for my blu-ray mkvs or if it supports DVD rip (VIDEO_TS) playback.

The Samsung SDK is not that versatile. Someone is writing a Plex client for the PCH's though and as STV user you might appreciate the verstile exploding windows http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sKvyy9g8...re=related

Quote: Plex will import your TV recordings if you add the series and episode numbers to the file names so that is kind of covered already but do you think you will be able to add any Live TV streaming to your Samsung app?

Plex is a nice app, visually nicer than NPVR and with a look and feel I like. The trouble is the clients for Samsung and the PCH are new specialty products one developer and I'd like a bit more more control to ensure longer term support. If you remember my discussion with UJB on making NEWA web services available with a light security model, I wouldn't be don't anything for LiveTV in a new fat client until until that was available.

I once built up a 1.8 celeron with a P4 2.4 , +1Gig ram and a better video card but forgot about the original 250 watt power supply.
A few days later the playback locked up and when I entered the room where the PC was I was greeted by that sickly sweet electrical fire smell.
Fortunately the only casualty was the power supply.
I think you must have been unlucky, I have run almost the same configuration (well I don't know that video card you had) with a 160W power and it worked fine. Anyway the power should have shut itself down and not catch fire.

i have a 2010 Samsung smart TV. How do you know if you have smarthub? Is it a pre-installed app?

Once I realized that the samsung built in player would not FF or resume, I have ignored using it since I have other options. If I had a NPVR app, I would probably use it though.

Ooh... that's interesting! I assume such an app would also work on a Samsung BluRay player with SmartHub (one of which you may infer that I have)?

Plex on Samsung has FF/RW It is supposed to work on C & D models, al though D are preferred.

I assume this too, I'll probably buy one at Costco to test first since if this works out, I will drive my wife crazy.

Martin: Thanks for the tip about the Samsung Plex client. It seems that one needs to pm the developer to get the logon info for the download site - plexforsamsung.pbworks.com. Hopefully he'll respond soon so I can try it out - at least until you release your integrated NPVR client.

hd1080 is pretty responsive. While you wait you can set up PMS and scan in some test videos. Plex needs S##E## notation for scraping TV.

from a PM Wrote:Martin: I've set up PMS and Plex for Samsung. Playback works! A problem though...

Plex isn't picking up program information from TVDB. I think its a problem with NPVR's file naming. The PMS wiki says the file name should be ShowName - YYYY-MM-DD.ext whereas NPVR names files ShowName_yyyymmdd_hhmmhhmm.ext.

Do you think that's the issue? If so, is it possible to edit NPVR's file naming rules? Or is there some other reason PMS won't pick up the metadata?

You have two options. The PMS scanner has rigid naming conventions http://wiki.plexapp.com/index.php/PlexNi...ming_Guide and if you want to use NPVR format you need to include them as Movies - > Personal Media.

Alternatively if you want to use S##E## notation there are a few NPVR utilities, my imageGrabLite and carpeVideo's guidePlus that will rename some file to the proper notation. Then once name you have the choice of leaving them as a personal TV series in Plex or letting Plex automatically scanning TVDB to get full meta data for the Recordings, Season, and episode.

I've found that most episodes in plex don't have any episode numbering information. So that "1. Pilot" must be added by the GUI on the first item in the collection.
