GuidePlus will also add a * to new recordings (although you have to use xmltv to get schedulesDirect listings and have npvr use the altered xml file).

It will then group together series with and without a star if you set a flag so you don't have two series one with a * and one with out in the recording directories.

I accomplish this by using mc2xml to scrape my SD acct.

mc2xml -T SDuser:SDpass -a -A -d 336 -D shed.dat -C shedchn.chl -o SHED.xml

This gives you the(*) in xml that npvr sees no problem.

Cool - downloaded mc2xml and followed the setup instructions and got the * in the title now. I think I am good to go on that now.

I have indeed read this "solution", but I'm getting tired of jumping through hoops to get NextPVR to work fully.

The SchedulesDirect EPG is built into NextPVR. The SchedulesDirect listings include the information about whether the episode is "new" or not. Yet the only way to record just "new" episodes is to install yet another program, learn how to use it, and figure out how to configure things for this purpose.

Given all the problems and difficulty getting NextPVR to work fully and properly, I'm thinking that the problems I have with BeyondTV are more manageable!

By all means go back to Beyond TV then. Sub does not live in North America, and he does not get paid for his work so I think it was good of him to provide any support at all for something he will never use (schedulesDirect). Someday he will likely even add further support but only for those who ask politely. NPVR is the best solution I have used and I have tried em all.
