Im not saying watch once its ended
you can set it to record in the guide then go back in and watch the file that is been recorded (slect in guide it will give option to play even if the program is still been recorded)
although for testing purposes does the stutter appear while watching a recording from the stations that skip in live tv
is the stutter always at the same point
does the stutter show when you play it in vlc player (has its own decoders)

Oh I see. Still a pain tho. Possible short term solution.

Tried a few video decoders, including Microsoft, LAV, Cyberlink. Ffdshow video crashes npvr for some reason. I'll keep dicking about with decoders and will let you know of any improvements. Still welcoming suggestions.

I would stick with cyberlink
In Cyberlink settings
1 try forcing bob for interlacing
2 hardware decoding should be ticked

In your video card settings
1 turn off everything apart from force wait for vertical sync
2 set to bob interlacing also (anything but auto really)
3 also make sure video card is set to 50HZ Test for this is watch ticker tape along bottom of screen with news or weather (not adds they are always rubbish cheaply made shit)

as i said earlier do a recording and see if the error happens at the same spot every time this will indicate if its a broadcast problem or a playback/computer /decoder /program problem. This will help greatly in working out how to fix the issue rather than just taking stabs in the dark like im doing now

Given up. Gonna reinstall Windows. I am having similar problems with MediaPortal now as well so I am guessing something got messed up somewhere. This is making me regret switching from Myth. I'll let you know how I go...

So I'm back trying to get npvr functioning properly, I hate being beaten. I have sorted the dead channels issue (ended up being a signal problem which was weird cause I was getting 100% reception but low signal quality according to MediaPortal). Only problem I still have is when I timeshift then pause it skips forward again after unpausing. Would love to get this sorted.

Cheers

That is a known issue in npvr, the only workaround is to do a short skip backwards right after resuming.

odd, I thought LiveTV was working fine these days, but as I don't watch live all that much I figured I'd test it... sure enough, mine does the same thing. watch live tv, pause for a bit, then unpause. at first video resumes at exactly the same spot, then after about 5 seconds it jumps ahead. for me the video sometimes freezes pre-jump while the sound continues, but not always. if I skip back a bit, then playback will proceed normally again until the next pause.

by the way, does anyone know when this became a "known issue in NPVR"? I am quite sure that this was not a problem a couple of releases ago... is this something new with NPVRTSReader2 that I never noticed?

Seems to me like a pretty major issue which really should be fixed. I found the main thing that attracts me to npvr is the live tv, there are better solutions out there for media libraries
