Live TV Playback issues

Actually I think sub was posting at 6:37am, but indeed he does get the early riser award. Many a time I've rolled out of bed in California and booted my computer to start my day, and found sub already online in NZ, 3 or 4 hours behind me depending on the time of year.

It was 4:37. Damn phone rang then stopped at 3:30, then I couldn't get back to sleep, so I just started work early.

oh, I can never keep track of the time difference between NZ and CA. All I know so far is that every time I've posted what time I thought it was in NZ, I've been wrong. It must be 5 hours difference now because of our daylight savings time.

I never checked the CPU usage when I have had this issue, something I will do later this evening.

Review the sticky on getting started at the top of the NPVR Support forum. Make sure you have all the prereq software installed. There are instructions for finding and posting the logs there.

That said, if you are receiving HD TV, your video card with XP may not be up to the task. You could try the VMR9FSE or Overlay video renderers to see if you get smooth playback. Both have some disadvantages, though. Win 7 with its EVR renderer would be better. My system with the 7600GT is the minimum I would recommend for HD.

I am not receiving OTA signals yet, just QAM so they are all standard signal, no HD. And I a able to view it just fin with the QuickTV program that came with HD Homerun, so I don't feel it is specifically my video card with XP. It may how ever be something to do with my video card, Xp and Next PVR running.

What is VMR9FSE? Is it a codec?

VMR9FSE is a video renderer, selectable at the top of the Decoders screen.

Ok so it is already installed/ part of Next PVR. I may have had that already selected.

I tried ffdshow codec (already had it installed previously) and I got nothing. I switched to the LAV decoder for video and audio to get anything to work. It works for the first channel I click on but if I do anything, even right click to bring up the channel guide everything starts to slow down and eventually freeze.

I tried VMR9FSE and the other options, some were worse but none were better than the EVR, the VMR9FSE may have been slightly better not nothing really noticeable.

What is happening is I open Next pvr, click on live tv and it comes up pretty quick, sound @ video.

When I go to change the station the screen freezes, I get sound for a few seconds, then no sound, then I get sound again and eventually video (sometimes). This process can take anywhere from 16-30 seconds. It seems to get worse the more channels I tune to.

I have attached logs in zip format, I was unsure exactly what log I should post so I posted all 3 in the logs folder. I hope the format is correct. At the end of the log the program crashed completely when I changed the channel.

I do appreciate the help.

I will go through the set up walk through and see if there is anything I missed when installing etc.

You'll need to post the logs immediately after reproducing the problem. The npvr.log shows you restarted the app, overwritting the log file, so doesn't show the problem.

Also, just zip and post the entire logs folder.
