Tried some other decoders and changed the video renderer, didn't make a difference.

I watched live tv for approx. a full minute, then pressed the back button.

Ok, no problem. I will try a re-install and see if that works. I'll backup my config.xml file, are there any other files I should backup? Is there a preferred method to re-install NPVR?

Usually the only files you'd require would be the config.xml and npvr.db3.

No. I guess you'd just uninstall, then install again.
