forum kept saying my log was an invalid file....

the slow part is "Loading channels from clients", stays on that for about 11 seconds on the machine with nextpvr installed, once its past that it loads the epg and everything else in a few seconds. on other clients that first part takes longer.

i can email you the log if you give me your email address. some error messages about groups not being found (put xbmc into debug mode)

In your logs it looks like xbmc spends about 10 seconds of that asking for the list of channel groups, and lists of channels in each group. I'm not really sure what they're spending all that time doing. Unfortunately the xbmc logs dont show millisecond timestamps to see more accurately how long each step is taking.

There is lots of errors like these, but I'm not sure if these are xbmc or nextpvr errors. I'll check.

I assume that they workaround you that you suggested to reven earlier will help me so I will let you know. For me it is not RPi related,

Yep, try going to Settings->Live TV->General and untick the 'synchronise channel groups with backend' and see if this slow period of startup goes away.

I've found a few bugs in XBMC around the channel sync stuff (much of it related to broken PVR radio logic), and turning off the channel sync looks like the best short term fix. Most people's channel lists are fairly static, so you only need to temporarily turn it on if you know you've changed your channel list.

It's still quite slow the first time (still minutes) but subsequent loads are much better. Thanks for finding this, perhaps NextPVR should not bother sending groups?

I think they should still be sent. Some users are going to want them. I'm sure the bugs in this area of xbmc will eventually be fixed.

yes i want groups, xbmc currently doesnt handle them that well (mediaportal is by far the best app at support groups, esp when in live tv and swapping channels).

i have a few groups
