OK Tried that UncleJohnsBand.

Interesting...the command windows didn't pop up and there is not vlc in the process. Also tried starting the stream and then opening network stream in vlc. still no joy.

It's looking to me like the transcoding and stream are not starting at all. Processor stays at nominal and vlc reports it cannot open the mrl.

I've shut off the firewall for now, just to be sure.

On the upside, I discovered how to turn on transcoding for live tv, so my remote live tv experience should be good. Smile

Best I can figure it out.....NEWA is not starting the stream at all. I not it's not a problem with the ffmpeg call because that works for the livetv now. Perhaps NEWA is not communicating with the recording service in order to begin the transcoded stream????????

Wish I knew more about how it works. I'll keep digging though. Any more ideas from your neck of the woods?

Ken

On the config tab of NEWA under the VLC location make sure there is a \ at the end of the location......looking at your earlier post it is not there and that will cause it not to work...... let me know.

Also..... I was not able to get the x64 version VLC to run in debug mode so I had to also load the 32-bit version to get the debug window to work.....

Yup the \ is at the end of the string. I also removed the 64bit version of vlc.
I also ended up trying a complete uninstall/reinstall of nextpvr, codecs, and vlc. Still no joy.

There must be something in my setup that is weird....I just can't figure out what.

Ok... go to you VLC directory on your server and open a command window....

Then run:

Code:
vlc -I http "F:\New Movies\TLOTR Triology\1[TLOTR]The.Fellowship.Of.The.Ring[2001][Special.Extended.Edition]DvDrip[Eng]-aXXo\[TLOTR]The.Fellowship.Of.The.Ring.CD1 [2001][Special.Extended.Edition]DvDrip[Eng]-aXXo.avi" :sout=#transcode{vcodec=mp4v,vb=128,width=320,height=213,acodec=mp4a,ab=32,channels=2}:standard{access=http,mux=ts,dst=:8866} vlc://quit

If it starts then you should be able to open vlc (via start button, programs) and open networkd stream http://localhost:8866

lets see where that gets us.....

As soon as I type in the command (I used copy and paste) vlc crashes, sends a report to videolan and windows reports the app crash.

(also. I thought that we were to avoid using port 8866 so I changed the port to 7648 in NEWA. And used that port number in the test with the command prompt window.)

I am now suspicious that there is something not right about vlc, the installation, or the command line.

What version of vlc are you using??

I've reached a similar point in trying to get streaming to work over the LAN. I can report that VLC is starting on the server when I click the "stream" button on the client browser. However, the process "Werfault.exe" starts shortly afterwards, runs for a few seconds, then both processes close. Werfault.exe is Windows Error Reporting.

I have 32-bit vlc 2.0.4 on both machines.

+1

VLC starts on server, then crashes immediately.

I am using VLC 2.0.4 x64 on server. Switch to 32-bit when debugging. Both installed at the same time. All is well.

What OS and bit (32 or x64) are you using.... I know ScaryBox is using W2k8 R2 which very well could be the problem there.

Try downgrading to VLC 2.0.3. Per this post in another thread it solved their problem: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post446758
