My comments on that were related to using XAF builds that relied on MX Player for playback.

Is that due to mxplayer or XAF build? It is possible to use an official xbmc build with an external player like MX through playercorefactory.xml, but if by using mxplayer resume doesn't work it's not a good solution.

Further, I'm very confused as to what chipset has the best chance to be getting 1080p support in xbmc for android. Probably a stagelibfright supporting chip. Neither amlogic nor Allwinner. Rockchip seems to be having a lot of problems they have to solve themselves and I'm not sure that's going in the right direction. Maybe exynos???

I don't know or care to know. It isn't XBMC so you won't get XBMC defined behaviour

Keep reading then, there is no answer to your question at this point. I have two Pivos boxes with the AmLogic M1 and M3 chips and they have h/w support in XBMC, but they still are low end boxes. I also don't run them in Android because the Linux version feels better to me.

Good to know that it's not only stagelibfright that is a potential solution (since your AmLogic supports h/w in XBMC), but if I understand correct these are not the future.
Minix neo x7 or Ouya are, as far as I know, not low end boxes anymore and I'm interested to know which chipset has the best potential to eventually be able to support h/w support in XBMC.

SickBoy, you started this thread, have you bought that minix or another android box?

Compared to a PC even from 3 or 4 years ago, they are still extremely low-end

I downloaded a build of XBMC for android which does hardware decoding on my Nexus 7 & Transformer TF300 (both tegra 3)
the build was supoosed to be for universal hard decosing (or as close as they could get)

I was't able to play my 1080i recordings through XBMC on android until I used this new build.

Ahh - I just found that it was the stagefright build I have.
The Ouya is a tegra 3 device, so might work well for 1080p in XBMC.
I want to get one to try Plex on, or a Roku 3.

I'm kind of a bummer... my activity around here goes in spurts. I never bought any hardware to try out, till this week - working on trying to configure a Roku stick to do what I want. But that's for another thread.

In the mean time I bought a Tronsmart s89-H. Had some issues with it, but seems okay now (only EPG screen loading is slow, but that seems normal on android).
