Hi guys,

thank you for your replies. I use the german DVB-T and scan for all channels there. The frequencies that are shown in the Hauppauge software are also shown during the scan, therefore i assume no problem there.

I tried to completely remove the hauppauge drivers/software as well as the gb-pvr software and do a fresh install. I also removed all left hauppauge entries I could find in the registry. But I had no success. After the scan I always get the message that no channels were found. Upon leaving the window where I could map channels I always get an exception that crashes gb-pvr.

What am I doing wrong?

Any more advice appreciated.
Greetings and happy easter

If you watch TV on the PC with Preview mode enabled there is no recording to disk going on so it doesn't use any MPEG2 mux filters. If you watch TV on the MVP, it buffers to disk first, i.e., it records therefore needs to use a mux filter. I think trying the other filters would definitely be worth doing.

Hi BG -

Quick update FWIW on my bits of testing. You are right the MVP viewing live TV is equivalent to watching in timeshift mode on the PC, so something odd was going on in my system in timeshift.

I've now managed to get it working...again, like a lot of these, I'm not really sure why or how. It came down to doing a completely fresh install of the latest version of GBPVR (previous installs had been upgrades only). So I now have my nova TV working on the MVP. Scheduled recordings are 100% stable (in the five recordings scheduled to date). Live TV is about 50% stable on the MVP (e.g. timeshift mode on the PC) - e.g. it works fine on the first channel, but after you've changed channels a couple of times it invariably crashes (the recordingservice.exe crashes).

Following BG's suggestion, I experimented heavily with the different mux filters. For what it's worth, here's my findings (for anyone reading this, the results probably have as much to do with my system as with the filters themselves) For the record my system is an Nvidia chipset AMD64 3ghz, 512mb, 200g SATA, WinXP Home and I de-registered each filter after I had tried it, but kept everything else the same, as far as I was aware:

1. ivimux.ax (from intervideo home theatre download). Installing this was the first time that I managed to get live TV onto the MVP. In timeshift mode this worked, but very slow to change channel & audio went out of synch with video after a couple of channel changes and/or a few minutes of video.
2. mpegwriter.ax (from showshifter trial). This worked on my system, except recordings/timeshift seemed to suffer from extremely jerky video and occasional synching problems (n.b. I couldn't get this filter to register on its own & would only register when whole of showshifter's trial was installed, which also shoved in a lot of other stuff that may (or may not) have affected my little test).
3. mpgmux.ax (from cyberlink cinema) This was the one I started with & the one that I have reverted to. Once it was up and running properly I have had no synching or jerky video issues with this filter so far in timeshift mode or in recordings. Not 100% stable (see above), but now workable....

hope's useful for someone....
