Reddwarf Wrote:Glad to hear you got it working! Smile The card has to be updated if CD changes the Conax main key, here in Norway it happens once or twice a year, so the clue is to put the card in the original STB from Canaldigital and let it run for an hour or so.

Reddwarf, this is interesting to me. Maybe it's related to my problem: I have to put the card in the decoder ( Humax) from my neighbours before I can get the card to receive emm's in my smargo. Then I have to make weekly recordings on a encrypted channel and when I fail to do so, I have to put the card back in the Humax of my neighbours.
It seems the smargo-NextPvr combination can't do something the Humax can, which causes the stopping of receiving new emm's. Is that the issue you were describing?

You wrote that the card has to be update if "CD" changes the Conax main key. What is "CD"?
My smartcard is irdeto if I'm correct. My provider is called Ziggo, its in the Netherlands.

Or do you think that my problem can be corrected with other settings? I tried oscam also without luck.

CD is a shortening for Canal Digital, ie the cable tv provider. My theory was that they change some "master key" once or twice a year and that the smartcard has to be updated (in a STB or hardware CAM). However, this has not happened to me for more than a year now. I seem to remember that I changed a setting in NewCS that has to do with emm's, from memory it was set to not care about emm's.
Another possibillity is that your smartcard reader is unable to update the smartcard, what type of reader do you use? And is the permission on the reader's port set to read-only or read-write?

Thanks for answering, I'm getting really desperate, I've spent so many hours on this.

I am not getting any emm's at all and I can't figure it out how to solve this. I have a smargo smartreader+. I don't know where I could see read-only or read-write settings.
But when I put the card in the decoder, a Humax, of my neighbours it takes 15 mins at the most and then they can watch tv again on encrypted channels. When I put the card in my smargo again, I can too. When I keep watching encrypted channels weekly, everything is okay and emm's and ecm's are written to the card. But when I don't watch regularly I can't receive emm's or ecm's anymore, only Not ok ecm's.

It seems the smargo isn't able to do something it needs to do or the software isn't pushing the smargo to do that.

What setting in newcs did you change concerning getting emm's?

With regards to permission, I'm running NewCS on Linux on an ancient Dell Optiplex (it is so old that the bios doesn't even support dvd drives so I a lot of problems to install Linux mint on it. However it works perfect and has been running for months without interruption), so I can set permissoins on USB00 which is the actual port.
The setting(s) I changed is this:
Code:
<cache>
   <emm>20</emm>
   <ecm>10</ecm>
</cache>
There is also the possibility that your cardreader is not able to write to the card, is it possible for you to get hold of a Phoenix cardreader to try? Do not buy Smartmouse, I have tested it and it does not work properly.

Thanks for the help!

I had this in the xml:

<cache>
<emm>20</emm>
<ecm>-1</ecm>
</cache>

I just changed it and am now testing, but so far still the same.
About the writing to the card: when I once use the card in my neighbours Humax, I can watch and receive emm's and ecm's, I don't think that's the problem. I read about many others having a similar problem as I am having. I'm just not sure if there's a solution in windows and if there is, what it is.

In just a few minutes I have 40 Bd Ecm's, 34 Rejected, 40 Filtered (newcs webinterface).

Wim
EDIT: I think the smargo is a Phoenix cardreader.
