Recurring recordings disappeared

Why not configure multiple directories in NextPVR and have the recurring or one-off rule do the hard work for you?

That only sorts the files on the HDD........, Files also changes how they are listed in the Recordings view.

What we would need would be for sub to supply an option so a user could add a (pre-configured would be fine for me) prefix when setting up recordings either one off's or recurring ...... maybe time for me to start a Wishlist thread....

Ah right thanks, I don't use NextPVR for recordings playback, just LiveTV and I forgot how basic Recording is.

I was going to suggest the Files plugin to you..... the "_Movies" "_Films" is what I came up with for my own use

Yes, you and jksmurf were the two who posted that made sense for what I wanted to do. I came from BeyondTV, and in that system, Movies went into a Movies directory, and that's what made me want to do that with more items in NextPVR. You two made the suggestions for folder techniques, and I thank you both!! Especially the "_" in front of the name... I wanted those items at the top, and my "Viewed" folder is "ZViewed" to get it to the bottom!

Was that because the top box in the setup screen is (what I call the advanced options) & it is a heap easier to use the second option to set it up for what we are doing??

While it's not my plugin.... I think it needs some instructions editing (but I couldn't figure out exactly what wasn't clear for new users of it) & as you have just gone through it ..... could you let me know what needs changed in the instructions to make easier to setup for the first time?? (& I will edit it on the wiki)

Yes, there are the 3 boxes to set-up - Commands, Filters, and Locations. I completely thought that I had to use that commands field, and just couldn't figure it out. It took quite a while to understand that I could just bypass that field. On the wiki, definitely note it as "Advanced" or something like that so that newbies can understand you don't HAVE to set that field up for our process.

And then with Filters - it was pretty easy to set up from the wiki, other than the fact you don't use the parenthesis on the fields. It also took me a few minutes to realize that I didn't need to add anything there, because I wanted the folder and file/s within it to move.

The third box, Locations, made sense, but I still needed to tweak a bit there just because I had to really grasp what was going on. Honestly, it made the most sense going back and forth to the image that was posted on the support link. With that I then understood that the Name Field was what I wanted the title to be (_Movies), and I moved pretty quick at that point. I really didn't have that much trouble with this, it just took some staring at and alt-tabbing between windows to truly understand.

There were little things that added time - I already had recordings moved to the final directory, but wanted the name automatically added, but since it was already in the destination directory, I had to change my tack. That was just a personal thing. The limitations, I didn't understand the "click" statement - for 5 minutes I couldn't get anything to work, until I realized you meant "click with the mouse!!" You need to use the keyboard / remote! Of course you have to read that far, which was my issue the first time through.

I also didn't realize that the directory is read from Media Folders / Video Folders in the settings, and not from the Recording Directories. I only used the Video Folders for non-NPVR recorded files, and needed to tweak that.

The hardest thing was just reading the paragraphs and figuring out what was really being written. Not trying to insult the work you did already, but it just took me some time to understand what I was reading and not being intimidated by it. Something like this could be easier, but I think the wiki will have limitations with lists within lists:

Anyway, those are my views and my views only having just done this, and please don't take anything I've typed up personally, as I was honestly intimidated from the beginning by commands with "%" and "dir" and "fname"!!!!

One last thing - I think the commands could be something that would be useful to me, but they would really need a wiki to themselves to explain what can be done with it!!!
