Create a file with the following as 17.ini in the Tuning\QAM folder and pick Channel 17 and upload your logs, and then we don't worry about it. I suspect your IR receiver is generating the noise but it could be the wireless mouse/keyboard receiver too.

Code:
[CABTYPE]
1=Channel 17
2=All Frequencies

[DVB]
0=1
1=17,0,0

Or you might want to try scanning again first. It looks like both "Default Cable Frequencies" and "All Countries"#2 begin scanning at physical channel 1, but my provider has no digital channel below 18.1 (probably because they still downconvert local channels to analog). If you don't see 17.1 you can always click "Cancel," especially since more encrypted channels might slip through. HRC scan found absolutely nothing.

Yes, HRC did not find anything, I stopped that one. You are right, it starts "Physical channel 1" when I select Default Cable Frequencies.. I just reran it now.

Martin,
I did, and chose "Channel 17" in setup, it found 17.1 through 17.4 but they are all blank/black screen.
Tuner1 found 4 but when I rescanned Tuner0 it found nothing, then I exported channels from Tuner1 and imported to Tuner0 to make sure both tuners had same channels.

It's weird, because that's exactly what I have on my TV tuner (17.1 through 17.4, no 17.5, which seems to match above, but no picture..)
Here is the latest log.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/nda2342dbho84r...3-0127.zip

Now, When I run Default Frequencies again, I see Unknown 17.1 through 17.4 appear but grayed out, is it because they are already in the line up? but the others area also in line up not grayed out..

I realized I have 4 HDHR tuners showing up, 2 of them scans QAM and 2 of them only allows scanning ATSC, could the missing channel be hiding in ATSC tuner? I arm running a scan on those now.. It found only 3 channels so far.

Update: 17.1 - 17.4 showed up! Smile I don't know why they showed up after I ran another scan in ATSC (found just 3 channels) but now CBS is showing up in 17.4 (Channel placement 1053). I guess I had to restart the NPVR a few times? Thank you so much Martin, your tuner ini worked! Why was the original .ini missing those channels? That beats me.

Thanks Zeb and Martin, you are extremely patient and helpful!

If you add channels they don't need to be re-added. Yes after scanning you should restart the recording service.

I don't see anyway to disable channels once they are added to Channels list, I guess I will just start deleting those from Setup/Channels since I selected ALL in results screen to make sure I did not miss any. I wish we could Sort by EPG so the ones I linked could stay and the ones I did not set a source I can just select all and delete.

Martin,
like I mentioned, I can get the channel in the lineup now, but it is almost impossible to tell if it will tune or not, it works randomly, or it gives me the blank screen. I left home, hours later I came back it is still in the frozen screen of previous channel. When I fiddled with guide, it then gave me "tuner required for recording, etc." error.

I hit OK and went back to guide and selected again (sometimes it works this way) but it still gave me the "Tuner you were using was requied for a recording, would you like to switch to watching a recording or go back to the menu? only option is "Exit back to menu". CBS (17.1) is not working at this moment.

I am including the logs, the last thing I did was to Tune Channel 379 TV55, let the picture come on, then choose Channels to switch to Channel 1052 (17.1) CBS HD and it just hung again. Hopefully you can see it and tell me what causes it not to tune and give the "tuner you were using" error..

https://www.dropbox.com/s/n2lxj7jvdldcxo...201819.zip

Would you like me to delete all logs and start a fresh one if that helps?

After I uploaded the log, I tried the channel again, usually it gives me the tuner error, this time I got no error, and it just hung the application, had to force close it this time, for your reference.

I strongly suspect it is signal related.

2013-07-21 01:25:40.634 [DEBUG][4] locked=0, present=1, strength=83, quality=0 (took 1935ms to check)

The HDHR GUI utility should show you signal levels. Your best bet is to remove all splitters and get the strongest source possible.

While I have all of my channels showing up in the HDHR Setup screen (channels list), but HDHR GUI is only showing me 5 channels. Rescan also shows just 5 channels, these are the 5 channels that WMC could normally find... TWC probably transmits signals for just these 5, so these are the only ones showing up in Tuner section of GUI.

Regarding signal level, that's really odd because both WMC and HDHR can tune into the channel without a problem, but NPVR cannot. I will run a straight line to HDHR (I have two splitters, one for cable modem and one to split it into two tuners) and post the result.

When I check the signal on WMC, it shows "Channel 17.1, QAM 256, Quality: 100%

It's possible that the channel name might be too long, although I don't know what the limit is: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...tune-error

But frankly I'm suspicious that CBS HD is flagged copy-once, which Time Warner is notorious for: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...-CableCard
