The asterisk is not part of the filename. It is used to denote that a program is new (never before aired). The asterisk itself (and the space before it: " *") is excluded from the actual filename when saved/recorded though.

OK, I shouldn't have said the asterik became part of the filename.
But my point is, the recurring recordings that I had set up before using UltraXMLTV don't recognize the show now that the asterik is there.

It appears as though I have to reselect the shows again, with the asterik, for them to record?

Also, previously I was using TV Listings with the "NEW" icon.
It appears now after UltraXMLTV runs ALL the listings now have the NEW icon.

I can simply disable it in the skin, but I thought it might help solve my other problem if I used the NEW icon instead of the asterik.

I use the asterisk to only record new episodes, and yes, recurring recordings will have to be redone for the asterisk.

So if you want to record ALL episodes of a particular series you need to set up 2 recurring schedules; one for the show without the asterik in the title, and one for the show with the asterik in the title?
Kind of defeats the purpose of the "recording type" dialogue that I have been using to schedule shows in the past.

I just noticed another problem.
After running ULTRA on my xml file it now appears I will be recording the same NEW show twice when it runs on the same night.
i.e. Major Crimes at 9:00 PM and again at 11:00 PM.
It wasn't like that before.

Yes, and I like knowing what is new and what is not.

The new show detection is not always perfect, but it works good for me.

Ultra is not really supported any more either, but it is still does what I want. Once you get it configured and working the way you like, it just works.
