I do not use preset sizes.... instead I use the Ratio and set it somewhere between .25 to .40 I find the results with ratio provide better results.
Your upstream rate that you have with our ISP coupled with the CPU power on the server directly impact the quality you can get in streaming outside of the home network. I have a 30/30 Fiber connection with a 6 core CPU and get excellent results over the internet so long as where I am connected has a decent bitrate.... which unfortunately is not that often...
I used these settings several times over the last week remotely and results were good.
There isn't a way that an app could be created to handle the mechanization of all this... so one could simply go to the guide, click on a button/link associated with a channel listing, and have it spawn MXPlayer with the correct open stream info (stream transcode by VLC)?
