Microsoft MPEG-2 decoder not available for Recordings but is for DVD?

if you want to try forcing NPVR to use the microsoft decoder for MPEG-2, I think you can still do it in config.xml. In the <Decoders> section just set:

<DecoderMPEG2>Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder</DecoderMPEG2>

afaik the blacklist preventing use of the decoder just stops it from appearing in the dropdown list in Settings, it has no effect on what decoder can actually be used if it's properly defined in config.xml. That all said, I suspect you'll find that it still doesn't work.

I spent some time today looking into this. It looks like the decoder is still blocking use of MPEG2 by any 3rd party components. I was unable to make it work with any combination of directshow components, so I've left it hidden in NextPVR.

I have been able to get AAC and AC3 audio working from the Microsoft DVT-DVD Audio Decoder decoder though, so this decoder makes a return to the decoder lists in the next release.

both cncb and whurlston (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post474774) report that the MS DTV-DVD Video Decoder works for them. Why do they seem to be getting different results than you?
