Thank you everyone for the comments.

I did remap to the native NPVR to get things going for a week. I guess I also needed to remap the XML, I did not realize they would have different channel identifiers so I thought it would be an easier transition.

I have tried Microsoft update again with mc2xml (not legacy version as I had donated) and it failed again. I tried the host file change but my system kept on saying it was in use and I could not modify it. I tried the ipconfig /flushdns just to see if that alone would help..no good. I was not comfortable with any other work around. So...

For all this frustration I decided to go ahead an pay for Schedules Direct for a year since it is not that expensive. I have had issues with Microsoft at least once a year for the past 3 years and would love to avoid this frustration. I hope SD has a better track record than MS.

One more question, I forgot my password for Schedules Direct so had to change it. Do I need to go into each channel mapping again to update the password or is fixing the first one enough? Or is there somewhere else i change change it.

Just fix it once and it'll update the Schedules Direct password stored in the config.xml.

The hosts file trick worked for me. Thanks as always to the hive knowledge in this forum!

In Windows 7 and 8 you now need to edit the hosts file as an Administrator, otherwise it won't let you save changes. This might have been your problem. Also, the directory of the hosts file is sometimes hidden from browsing. So for everyone's general knowledge, here's how to resolve both:

You need to be running notepad as administrator:
- So you search for notepad or locate on the start menu
- Instead of clicking it like usual, you right-click and choose "run as administrator"
- Once open, choose File>Open and then paste in the following: C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

I have been having WMC guide download issues recently too but they seem to be solved now. However, no guide data is being downloaded to NPVR. I tried to run mc2xml manually, but when I double-click on the mc2xml exe the UI window just flashes briefly. I have removed all .dat files but I still can't get the UI to show. Any ideas?

I usually also remove (rename for backup) the xmltv.xml file in addition to the bat file when I want to redo my mc2xml.

I am seeing a similar issue. I use mc2xml to access my SD account. I noticed just today that my EPG data was out of date, so I poked around to discover that my xml file had not been updated in over a week. If I try to run the mc2xml.exe, it just exits immediately. I even tried removing my .dat and .xml file from the same folder, but the behavior is basically the same. Is there some sort of update to this program?

Hmm. I have mc2xml v.1.2 on my machines, and it is still working as of right now. Assuming there are no issues on your end, maybe they are doing a slow rollout?

I resolved the issue by switching the way I update the EPG to just use the schedules direct directly. I guess I have gone full circle back to the way it worked with GBPVR. When sub first released nextPVR, it did not support schedules direct so I started using mc2xml.exe to get around that limitation. It was later added back, but i never switched back until now.

Same problem here. I haven't touched my NPVR setup in close to a year (kudos on the stability sub!). The wife just pointed out that our EPG has "no show data" after 7pm tomorrow night. Same symptoms as above, mc2xml (xmltv) just flashes a window when run manually, no new data from EPG update in NPVR. My .dat and .xml files in \epg are dated 9/30. Might try a complete reinstall of mc2xml, newer version maybe? I'm using mc2xml.exe that's a 1.39MB file with a modified data of 1/2/12 @1:39am (windoze says it's v1.0.0, if that can be trusted).

That must be an old version; the one I downloaded yesterday for testing is only 875K and windows correctly reports version v1.2.0. http://mc2xml.hosterbox.net
