Has anyone tried Tablo tuner/dvr?

Currently Tablo does NOT support AC3 audio only 2 channel. AC3 is on their wish list but they have not committed to adding support for AC3. Also, Tablo converts MPEG2 to H.264 and stores it in a HLS file/container.

If Tablo is still in business a year from now ans can keep improving their filmware and software then I may give them a try.

The HDHR Plus model does live hardware transcoding to H.264. I discovered it's a bit of a trick to get all of the settings correct to get NPVR to store them as H.264 TS files, but once it's configure, it works quite well.
