Yes that would've been the best choice, And the one I would have used, if I had that option. But none of my codecs are showing up in the list. It's either disabled, or Microsoft DTV–DVD Video decoder. None of my Video decoders are being displayed. And I have not had any problems playing any video before.

It seems that many of the decoders I have found on the web, Either Changes your homepage, has malware, toolbars or other hidden programs that you don't want or need attached to them.

Where's the best place to go to get the proper decoders that will work with nextPVR.

Thank you for your help.

Many of us, myself included, use SAF. See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...highlight=

I downloaded the decoder that you recommended, unfortunately it did not do any better than the decoder that I had on my computer already. there is something that I am overlooking, I just can't put my finger on it. also when I installed the new decoder it recommended that I removed the AC3Filter. When I did that I lost all audio capabilities and had to reinstall it.

I'm using Windows 7, fully updated. I have installed DirectX 9 and AC3Filter. Firewall settings have been set properly. I can access the HDHomeRunPlus And play using Windows media player and HDHomeRun VIEW Software. over the air signal. No cable signals used. Using nextPVR : All channels have been scanned and appear to be correct. EPG data is also displaying correctly. video seem to record properly. I can only play videos on the nextPVR using the aforementioned settings. I can also playback on two of my TVs, and on my computer using Windows media player or VLC player as well as the video player that came with the tuner. if I change the nextPVR video decoder, I lose the picture.

I appreciate your efforts so far, you have been helpful. There's just something about my setup at these video decoders do not like.

Thank you.

I don't understand, with Windows 7 in the US you should be using the EVR Renderer and the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder for MPEG-2, with AC3Filter for AC3 audio. Nothing else is needed and should be disabled.

Post logs showing an attempt to play a recording using those settings. Also please describe what happens.

Okay, I opened the program, go to settings, decoder, I set video rendering to "EVR", And MPEG2 video to "Microsoft DTV–DVD Video decoder". I pushed okay. And just to make sure everything was set properly and saved I exited the program and restarted it. Pressed live TV. After a couple of seconds video flashed on and off for less than a second. I get sound, but no video. Only a blank screen.

For just about everybody in the USA, they're using MPEG2. With an HDHomeRunPlus though, you could be using H.264 depending on how it's configured, so make sure you also have your H.264 decoder set.

Also, you could try going in the Settings->Channels tab, double click on one particular channel, and try changing the services type from MPEG2 to H.264, then try watching that channel in Live TV to see if it makes any difference.

I hate to say this, but that didn't work either. And just for clarity, the section you referred to is under the device section, double-click on the device, and at the bottom, you'll find a list of channels. Double-click on the channel, And change the service type. Note: If you have more than one device, You will need to change each device to reflect the same service type. Or else disable the second device. Otherwise you may not know which device the channel is being played on.

Question, under the service type, there are several checkboxes. What are they for. I don't like changing things that I should not be changing.

Also, just to cover my bases I upgraded my ATI Radeon drivers. It did give me the ATI MPEG Video decoder. But unfortunately it has no effect on the problem.

Thanks for trying anyway.

somewhere in settings there is a checkbox that says "use alternate OSD for missing video"; clear that if it's checked.
