Have you tried to use HDHR VIEW to watch liveTV? Does it work for you? If so, you already have the decoders on your PC. Most Win7 machines have the video decoder already, but need to add an audio decoder, such as comes with PowerDVD or ffdshow or others.

sub Wrote:There isn't really any defaults. When it comes to decoders, NextPVR doesn't include any (since it'd cost $$$ to legally ship them), so it's up to you to set the decoders that it'll use, from those already available on your machine.

So you're now in the situation where it's not finding the decoders it needs. In the USA, you'll typically need MPEG-2 and AC3 decoders. What options do you have listed for those decoders on your machine?

I understand that the decoders don't come with NextPVR. Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder was set by default. I would assume that this video decoder should work, but apparently does not, that is why I'm posting to see if there is something else that I might have missed in the configuration.

Thank you.

Have you tried HDHR View? Your cable provider (like TWC) might be protecting all channels in which case, NPVR won't let you view live TV, but WMC will. If you are unable to view TV with VIEW, then i suspect that your cable provider is protecting its content.

MS DTV-DVD video decoder should work fine; for audio I recommend the free AC3Filter. Select the EVR renderer and leave the other 2 renderers default. For plain USA digital TV, all other decoders can be disabled. In the event you have any analog TV recordings, then you'll need a MPEG1 decoder, which, I think, AC3 will handle.

2leftfeet has a good point; try the local broadcast channels, it is more likely they would be unprotected.

There are some complications with this decoder. It does MPEG-2 and H.264 on Windows 7, but on Windows 8.0/8.1 it only does H.264. It sounds like you're on Win7 though, so should be ok. That said though, it doesn't look like that decoder was selected in the last logs you posted. Can you post another set?

Definitely check HDHR View as suggested above. NextPVR is only going to be able to watch 'copy-freely' channels.

When you try to start live tv, does a file get created in your live tv buffer directory (Settings->Misc screen), and does it grow? If it doesn't grow, your firewall may be blocking network access, and you might need to add firewall rules for nextpvr.exe/nrecord.exe.

Yes, I can watch live TV with HDRH view. I can also watch it with WMC.

A file does not get created in my TEMP space. The temp space is a slice on my NAS which I have mapped to my machine. I turned off the local firewall, but I still don't see anything mapped to TEMP.

Please fine new fresh logs attached.

Thank you.

Temporarily change it to the local drive, instead of NAS, and try again.

I have some videos on my NAS, which is mapped in the media folders option. I can play the videos in NextPVR just fine. That tells me that the decoders are working.
