Enabling the log file is making your channel changes work? I can't understand why 1 or 2 would make any difference. All that causes it to do is append a number to the name of file it creates - it shouldn't make any difference to the speed of anything.

That just sound silly. There is no way I can see a log file being enabled causing that. I think it's more likely your remote is sending two channel+/- keystrokes, and maybe that was a factor in your original problem?

Honestly, I'd say you're probably jumping to some conclusions that wrong, and that wont help getting the root of the problem fixed.

As shown in the log files, it does work better with it set to 2. No idea why. Actually I should not have to set any debug file, but to make it work I have too. If you need any further information on the issue, will be glad to create the problem and forward the log files. Without the debug set it happens every time, which to me implies an issue. Suspect timing or initialization, but not sure.

My remote works fine when the debug is set to 2, but that is the only way NextPvr works for me. To create the problem using debug set to 1, I go to a live channel, press record (it records), then click the remove and it skips 2 channels ahead. I have not tried the remote issue on the latest update, but will give it a try and post the logs.

Hopefully I can fin a resolution to the channel hanging issue as it is my primary concern.

I just created the issue with the channel skipping. These are the attached logs, NetPvr hung so closed it, then restarted and was skipping channels.

I am not creative enough to make up these issues.

thanks for the help, Barry

There is several channel changes in that log, so not easy to tell which are the extra non-requested ones.

Can you install this updated file, then try again to reproduce the extra channel change with the least number of steps possible (so the logs don't have extra stuff), then post the logs again. It'd also be useful to post the name of the channel you tried to change to, and the name of the channel you actually ended up on. This will help me see where in the logs the problem is actually occurring.

I'm not saying you're making anything up. I believe you're seeing some weird things, but I don't think enabling your logging is making it change channels twice. I think there is something else going on.

I think the first thing that needs fixing is why NextPVR is hanging on my system. Every time I have no debugging set LogSlipFile=0 the system hangs. Channels are very slow to change and finally the programs gets the original message error. Mainproblem.rar contains the log files of the hang.

Second, I change LogSlipFile=2 and the system does not hang, still slow on changing channels but no program failures. Dword=2. File is Dword2.rar contains the log files.

Without these being fixed, NextPVr is basically not usable for me. I really like the program, but the debug files get pretty large and without Dword=2 set in the registry the program fails.

I do not have this issue with Windows Media Center or Win TV 8.1.

Any help would be appreciated.

Those logs don't appear to have the extra logging I added in the patch above. Are you sure you replaced your existing nextpvr.exe with that new one?

sub, he seems to be saying that when he starts a recording and THEN tries to change channels, that's when it skips channels... perhaps he's just running into the bug I reported where I get the reduced channel list when I have a recording running, even though I have 3 tuners with all channels available. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post492259

his primary problem seems to be the long/failed channel changes without the debug logging enabled, which makes no sense but there it is.

That is exactly the problem! Thanks Johnsonx42. Tell me what I need to send and will be glad to send it and do the test. The channel hangs and slowness are the main issue I would like to see addressed.

Barry: Make sure that you shutdown all of the NextPVR components (using the "Stop NPVR Service" menu item under the Start Menu) before you replace the nextpvr.exe file.

Stopped the process and I already have 3.5.7 version installed. Uninstall NextPvr and re-installed it. Still failing on channels.
