Does the Hauppauge WinTV software find the channel?

For a QAM scan, you definitely have to remove the DTA, and have the cable going directly to the 2250.

I didn't buy the tuner with remote and software, I was hoping to not need the software, but if it does the job, I just may have to buy the software. Mediacom is saying that since in my area that the DTA is necessary that the DTA must be used before the tuner.

I am about to start trying the scans without the DTA, I will get back with the results asap.

Does your DTA need its' own remote? If so you can't scan it, you would need to blast it regardless if it offered SD or HD output.

I had thought of that, but haven't tested that yet, but will soon hopefully, it's a busy day.

Yes! I finally got some results (no DTA). Looks like the digital channels only. Can someone tell me if I need to check mark them or not before exiting this window? Also, is there setting to not have to login after a period of time (stay logged in)?

To change the channel on the TV with the DTA, you do need to use the DTA remote, the TV's remote won't work for this setup.

It'll default to ticking unencrypted channels, and unticking encrypted channels...so you'll probably find all the unticked ones are unwatchable anyway. Hopefully you'll find a subset of those channels are ticked and watchable?

expand the "Type" column, you should see that all the channels that are not checked are "MPEG2 SD (Encrypted)".... scroll down until you find some that aren't encrypted, those should be checked already. once you have the non-encrypted channels in your list, you may have to watch each one to find out what it is.

You can still use a DTA with NextPVR, but as mentioned, you need to enable analog support (by either installing WinTV, or following the instructions to manually install the SoftPVR components), and then will need to setup an IR blaster (so it can change channels on the DTA as required).

I would like to have one program for all the recording if possible.
