It only uses this if you have 'default to recording location with the most space available' ticked in the Settings->Recording screen (and have multiple recording directories specified). If it can't get determine the space from that directory, then it'll default to assuming there is no space available (in effect forcing it to use one of the other recording directories).

That said, if your NAS drive is broken, you should probably remove it as a recording path.

Thanks unfortunately since I have no recording capability right now editing all my recurring recordings is not an option.

I'm not sure I follow you. Why do you have to edit all your recurring recordings?

I default to a NAS and I will want to keep that when I get my new NAS.

Code:
<Rules>
  <EPGTitle>Scorpion</EPGTitle>
  <ChannelOID>7645</ChannelOID>
  <ChannelName>CBSWDT</ChannelName>
  <StartTime>2015-09-29T04:00:00.0000000Z</StartTime>
  <EndTime>2015-09-29T04:59:00.0000000Z</EndTime>
  <PrePadding>0</PrePadding>
  <PostPadding>1</PostPadding>
  <Quality>0</Quality>
  <Keep>0</Keep>
  <RecordingDirectoryID>[Network]</RecordingDirectoryID>
  <OnlyNewEpisodes>true</OnlyNewEpisodes>
</Rules>

Yep, that should be fine. Why do you need to edit your recurring recordings?

Do you have 'default to recording location with the most space available' ticked in the Settings->Recording screen?

BTW, that recording shows you've explicitly told it to record '[Network]', so that's where it's gonna try to record.

This 'spread' logic, which records to the drive with the most avialable space, is only relevant to recording going to [Default].

This hasn't changed with the change requested in this thread.

Thanks that is what I wanted to make sure of. I want to keep failing and not to have recordings default to the recording location with the most space available.

I've mapped a drive to the UNC, presume that the recording in 3.6.6 will not work on the mapped drive? I want to use it as an "overflow" for when recordings fill the drive up while away on holidays, normally we don't run out of space when not on holidays. Right now it's sitting at 700MB of space left on the drive for recordings, just added the mapped drive after having to "fiddle" with the config file so I could get at the settings. (Fullscreen + No right mouse button = no settings.)

Also, for paths that disappear (USB drive crash), the software keeps replacing that path with a default path, removing the USB drive, so every time it happens it has to be re-setup.

Did this request make it to 3.7.7? I noted that the local paths only is still on the settings page

Yes the "spread" feature works with UNC paths in 3.7.7. I just forgot to remove that text saying "(local paths only)". I've removed that text for the next build.
