The specific file does indeed have the showname..SnnEnn.subtitle filename format. But, I would say that it would definitely be preferable for sub to fix it so that the filename (with the path) stored in the database is correct. At some point, Microsoft may fix/change Windows so that it would not find the file either when given an invalid path.

Brett perhaps related are you still having trouble with Colbert files? I noticed in your database that you sent me they are

F:\NPVR Recordings3\The Late Show With Stephen Colbert\The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.S01E18..ts

Do they have one trailing dot?

Those older records without a subtitle do have the "..ts" ending. But the problem I sometimes have with playing those is something different related to the SMB access from libreelec. (It also affects other shows. Plus, rebooting the Pi or playing the file first from the Videos File listing always makes it play just fine in NextPVR afterwards.)

Sub: Did you get my PM with the link to a copy of my db? Chicago P.D. is recording again tonight, and I just checked the database, it's still generating an invalid path in the filename:
Code:
E:\NPVR Recordings2\Chicago P.D.\Chicago P.D..S04E04.Big Friends Big Enemies.ts

Sorry, I hadn't looked at it, but I've just taken an initial look now.

I've tried renaming one of my shows to "Chicago P.D." and it seems to have create a "D:\Temp\Chicago P.D\Chicago P.D_20161013_15551625.ts" file in the database, which matches the filename on disk. I take it that's not whats happening for you? Do you end up with a directory called "Chicago P.D"?

It looks like your database had a name "D:\NPVR Recordings\Chicago P.D.\Chicago P.D..S04E02.Made a Wrong Turn.ts", but I can't see how it didn't strip it to "Chicago P.D". I assume you're using 3.8.3?

Do you have a manual or advanced recurring recording setup with the name "Chicago P.D."? I can see a manual recurring recording might possibly be bypassing this logic which strips trailing period. One-off recordings and regular recurring recordings should be correctly handling it.

Yes, this is with 3.8.3. The directories that were created are D:\NPVR Recordings\Chicago P.D\ and \E:\NPVR Recordings2\Chicago P.D\. But the filename that gets stored in the database has the trailing "." at the end of the last directory. NextPVR on the PC seems to find it OK, and you suspected that it was because Windows was "adjusting" for the invalid directory name. But the SMB client on RPi doesn't adjust and hence doesn't find the file as specified in the database.

No. It is coming from a "normal" recurring recording for all new episodes of "Chicago P.D.".

Hmmm, I don't seem to be getting that trailing "." in my database.

If you want to post your log showing the recording, I'll check if anything stands out.
