nPVR Keeps Restoring Recurring Recordings

Just to confirm - there is no way to cancel an instance of a recurring recording and not have that "come back" when the EPG updates. Is that correct? If so it might be a very good candidate for a fix/enhancement.

Yeah, deleting individual episodes in a season recording are not a strong point. It's a lot less critical with a decent EPG source though, where it'll make sure things aren't being re-recorded.

You obviously haven't read enough of my posts then . I can generally spell and use punctuation, but I can't vouch my sentences being readable. I'm sure I'm mildly dyslexic. It all makes sense in my head when I'm typing it...

In the UK both Freeview and Freesat transmit a Unique Programme ID along with the EPG data. This is used by PVRs to Avoid Duplicate Recordings but unfortunately NextPVR is not able to extract the data.

However EPG Collector is able to extract the Unique ID along with the EPG data and the XML generated file can be imported into the NextPVR database and populates the "unique_id" column in the EPG_EVENT table. The problem is that broadcast along with the Unique Programme ID is the Series ID used by PVRs to record Recurring Recordings. NextPVR does not know about Series ID so I have to do some processing on the XML file to remove this data and also change an XMLTV heading so NextPVR correctly loads the Unique Programme ID into the database.

I have been doing this for almost four years and EPG Collector and NextPVR have both made changes to how they deal with the Unique ID. So I have had to do extra processing to ensure the ID format remained the same. Someone starting now may find the process much easier not having to maintain compatibility with older ID data.

It does actually pretty well for this if your guide has good show identifiers. I'll look into if something can be done for other EPGs.
