Weird skip behavior

I can confirm the LAV on MPC-HC works without problems(slow to non-exist live TV channel change, forward/backward skip issues, and OTA signal quality issues) as opposed to NextPVR. Maybe MPC-HC uses the LAV splitter.

Yeah it does. The LAV video decoder doesn't play nice with the Microsoft MPEG-2 Demultiplexer. Is there isn't really anything I can do about this.

While we're on the subject. can someone explain the function of a "splitter?"

It breaks the transport stream in to separate packets for the audio/video decoders, and delivers them at the correct time.

i tried sf6 but it does not give the option to select it in nextpvr decoders (mpeg2). i tried others to no avail and ms does not have one anymore for win 10 pro. thx

saf6 is not a decoder, so you won't see it by that name in NextPVR->Decoders. I think SAF gives you ffdshow by default, but the "unlocked" version has something better. in either case, I believer the SAF6 installer automatically sets the NextPVR decoders, so you shouldn't need to do anything.

Very simple explanation: splitter separates the video and audio into 2 separate streams to be processed.

MPC-HC use the LAV splitter hence just about all skipping problems go away.

Although WMP can not skip, it is very good at playing back your TS files recorded using OTA that have imperfect transmission streams.

no. disabled means disabled.
