Did you work out what the ip address of "JIM-PC" is and try that in Kodi?
ie, the following should tell you the ip address
ping JIM-PC

I know what the fixed IP address of JIM-PC is. Unfortunately, if I enter [//192.168.x.x] in the NPVR plugin host entry, it doesn't work. If that's not what we're talking about than that's the problem.

Quote:if I enter [//192.168.x.x]...Dont have slashes in there. It should be just 192.168.x.x

Thanks. Is that all I enter on the host name line? Where does the 127.0.0.1 entry go? I'll try it tonight, busy writing newspaper ads right now.

Yes, that is all you enter. Only the ip address. No other characters.
127.0.0.1 was the default value, which is used to connect to NextPVR running on the same machine. You want to replace that with your 192.168.x.x value.

Unfortunately, that didn't work for me. It acted like it was going to but then I got a "connection lost" message. Tried to back out of Kodi and the system froze, requiring a reboot. Have any ideas? I can view the 127.0.0.1:8866 site in my server viewer. Sure wish I could get that on my client.

I you can supply your kodi.log, with debug logging enabled, and your 192.168.x.x address entered, and your nextpvr logs, I'll check what's happening.

On your client machine, are you able to view the NextPVR web app using http://192.168.x.x:8866 in the web browser?

No, I can't. I don't understand that since the server and client are part of a home group (Win 10 au).
EDIT: I know I can see files on both machines (each way) using File Exlplorer.
Just to be sure I double checked my server IP address and found it changed (it's supposed to be fixed). So I tried connection to the server from the client using the new address and immediately got a "cannot be reached, not in DNS address". Does that suggest anything?
