the 2nd is ArcSoft Realtime MPLEX Filter.

That 2nd one isn't a real decoder, so don't bother selecting that one.

I get further when I click on the TV Guide (schedules direct) but it comes back with a new error message when I click "Watch," "Unable to communicate with recording service
I set up the Recording tab so it points (by default) to my NAS, a WD EX4100.

If you change it to somewhere like c:\temp, does it work?

NAS drives add a few complications. The recording service run as a different user account (localsystem), so won't see any drive mappings you've made under your account. You have to use a UNC path like \\server\share, but even then most NAS users often have issues with permissions (from localsystem account). Try the local drive first before adding the complications of a NAS drive.

You can create a zip file of your logs at Settings --> About and then attach the zip file to your post. NextPVR runs a permanenet recording service task in the background atnd it is this task that inities recordings and connects the front end task that you see to the tuner devices. It sounds like the Recording Service has stopped. It can be restarted wiith the icon in the NextPVR group in the Start menu or, my preference, by rebooting.

Found several posts that explained how to start the NPVR service by clicking start menu and going to that directory - worked like a charm.
