I found an old post of you http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post342869 where you recommend TSRemux and TSDoctor. Well, TSRemux works fine - audio and video are in sync - except that NPVR cannot play the TS file.

I give up.

ffmpeg and TSRemux generate apparently good TS files that play in Kodi and VLC (btw. VLC has a bug currently, you need to use --demux ffmpeg (https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php...11#p300811), but not in NPVR. The VLC bug indicates that the new TS streams are missing PAT/PMT info. That might also be what NPVR is looking for ...

tsmuxer generates a TS file that works in NPVR, but the audio offset it really bad.

TSDoctor 1.2.x crashed on Win10, maybe the 2.0 version would have worked.

I think I'll buy VideoRedo ...

Nope, the "original" NPVR recording TS file plays fine in NPVR, but not in the default VLC. Seems like VLC is looking for PAT/PMT, but NPVR is looking for something else.

Moment ...

Code:
ffmpeg -y -ss 110 -i "NCIS.S14E10.The Tie That Binds.ts" -scan_all_pmts 1 -f mpegts -mpegts_flags resend_headers -mpegts_flags pat_pmt_at_frames -t 30 -c:v copy -t 30 -c:a copy -t 30  NCISqq.ts

Indeed, that NCISqq.ts plays in the default VLC now, but still not in NPVR. Sad And if its an indication for what is missing in the file, VLC doesn't get time/duration information from that file. See screenshot below. Does this tell anyone what might be missing?

P.S.: Handy.Man, I would consider a better antenna, except that I already have a pretty good one and the signal strength is strong. Sometimes there are still glitches in the recorded signal.

scJohn,

thanks for the suggestions. I'll probably go with VideoRedo, it seems to be a pretty good program and can work with comskip output.

I was just thinking that ffmpeg should work. If I can figure out what's missing to make NPVR work I'll definitely file a ffmpeg bug.

NextPVR looks for the PAT and PMT.

Your manipulated file has a normal PAT, and a broken PMT which doesn't list the audio/video streams. The streams are there, but the PMT strangely does not have them listed.

Perhaps you need to define the glitches you are having better since you shouldn't be having a problem with atsc files in nextPVR with a good source and good Decoders.

Check the coupling, cables, etc, maybe it picks up some electrical noise or wireless electronics signals.

Thanks, the ffmpeg command from my latest post should have better PAT/PMT info, but it still doesn't play with NPVR. I didn't upload that yet. I'm about to leave town for Christmas, but I'll get back to this once I'm back.

What is a good tool to look at the TS files and investigate the streams?

Sorry for not being precise, but I usually see a few jumps in the timeline and maybe one to three broken packages when demuxing per hour. Normally not a problem, the files play fine in NPVR without cleaning them, but I like to generate subtitles and ccextractor has some problems with those files and gets a little bit out of sync. Re-muxing the files fixes that. The OTA source is only a little worse than the cable tv reception that I had before, and even there I had the occasional dropped package and jumps in the timeline. I used to re-mux with ProjectX and mplex.

I had issues the other day when I plug the disk to the JMicron SATA port, it could not sustain 3 recordings while copying on recording thru the network. I had glitches/loss of data on the 3 ongoing recordings.

Putting the disk to the Intel SATA port solve those glitches.

Fixing glitches with software doesn't bring back the lost signal. It always better to solve what cause the glitches than patching the recordings.
