This is the response from SD:

“If the schedule is correct, but the programs are at the wrong time, then your application needs to apply an offset; everything is sent from our servers in "Z" time, and it's up to the application to convert to local time.“

Any other suggestions? I am at a maddening loss of what to do. Thanks everyone.

That is exactly what NextPVR is doing. ie, everything is stored as "Z" time (utc). It's only converted to localtime for showing you the TV Guide. That can conversion to local time can go wrong if the timezone is set incorrectly in your PC, but this will effect all channels. If only three channels have the wrong times, then it's wrong at the source for those channels.

From the SD reply above, it sounds like you've not explained the situation to them properly.

Thanks Sub. Unfortunately it is hard for me to explain because I do not understand why three channels (there are only seven total on AFN) are 8 hours behind.

I suspect it is the source because SD only intakes that code? When I put the zip code in Zap2it, those three channels are offset. But the guide on the set-top box and on the AFN App are both correct.

I would followup with SD and let them know the zap2it.com is wrong for your area code and also for AFN Satellite and their source (Tribune) probably needs to fix it.

Well, things have spiraled worse. DST is not updating on my remaining channels. Nothing on the guide is correct. Yet the website is fine: https://v3.myafn.dodmedia.osd.mil/

Here's the reply that AFN gave SD when they opened a ticket about one channel being off by one hour:

"45900 is a custom AFN channel and GN updates based on direction from them. AFN has not reported any issues to GN.”

Basically AFN is the one driving the show; they have to "push" an updated to Gracenote with the correct schedule. And they are not. When I call AFN they just say use the website. They cannot wrap their minds around why I want an EPG from zap2it.

My question to the community is there any way I can manipulate the guide? I only have 7 channels. 3 are off by 8 hours and the other 4 off by one hour. Thanks all!!

If they wont do anything about it, your best bet is probably to download the listings to an xmltv file, and use some utility to add whatever number of hours, before feeding the file to NextPVR. A bit of pain, but don't know what else to suggest.

I pointed out the problem with the xml file approach before, it will be missing the first # hours of the data since SD thinks it is past data. You will need to get the data 12 hours before the EPG update or reverse the normal process and get the xml file in PostUpdateEpg processing. Hopefully not too much changes in 24 hours.

Yikes, this seems like a massive workaround for a noob like me but I will continue research on it. I will likely be reaching out again for some guidance as I learn xmltv. Thanks for giving me options.

I you need to learn that much to download the file, just check out mc2xml. The big difficultly is figuring out how to change two time zone in one file it probably will be easier to update the database with sqlite. If you want to zip and upload npvr.db3 somewhere I might be able to help you out.

So I decided to tackle how to use mc2xml. Pretty straight forward, but I just couldn't get the "-u output date/time in UTC (default = localtime)" to work. Not sure that was even the solution. But here is what I am now doing. I changed my computer to +11 GMT. Use mc2xml. Manual replace GUIDE.xml from +1100 to +0400. Reset my computer zone and import GUIDE to NPVR.

Obviously, rather cumbersome but effective. I suppose doing this once a week is not the worst thing in the world. But just wondering what steps can I take to automate some of this? Any feedback would be highly appreciated. Thanks again.
