Chrome displays my original message, however, the log does actually list the request and entries. I could not get VLC to play the stream

How do i attach my log files?

If you want to play live TV on another PC with vlc use sub's example in post 5 use the server ip with the port number

I use --no-playlist-autostart option to get the list for selection. I rarely watch the first channel

You can already add an optional "&group_id=MYGROUP" type parameter. The group_id of a group is the name.

http://localhost:8866/service?method=channel.m3u&group_id=favorites-hd

Yes? I assume that the entire line is not case-sensitive. Any special conditions for the hyphen shown in the group name?

The group_id is probably case-sensitive. The rest is lower case. hyphen should be ok as it is.

I think it is hardcoded to 127.0.0.1 and not the called IP.  I think v4 used the called IP.

It was exactly the same code as v4. It defaults to 127.0.0.1, but you can supply a "host_callback" parameter if you need it to have it point somewhere else:

http://localhost:8866/service?method=cha...3.101.21.6

A post today reminded me of the v4 call I was thinking about

http://ip:8866/channels which gives the host ip the reply.

I've fixed that for the next build, so it finds the host_callback from the request headers

Bit of a necro-bump, but I've been playing around with v5 (latest version on ubuntu 20.04) , and I can't get this m3u export to work with VLC - or a browser for that matter - I get this:
