I've been looking at this today. I haven't got to the bottom of it yet though - still trying to work it out.

Can you see if the attached updated reader helps?

There is a big bit of corruption in the supplied file at the time, as evident in other players too. Playing with this new version, there is a lack of audio/video updates for about 5 seconds, before playback continues normally. I see pretty similar results in VLC, so it's probably about the best we can hope for playing through this type of corruption.

Do I need to rename this file as I can't find an existing one with matching name to replace?

Sorry Sub but I was confused here. Normally when you release a patch it's to replace an existing file but there wasn't one of that name in the client directory.
I did update the files using the V5 installer on the NPVR website before applying the patch. Then it occurred to me you might be referring to the pre-release version.
I've downloaded that zip file now and will overwrite the released version files with it and test.
The website V5 installer seems to install files dated 19/12/2019. (V5.0.1 build date 200209) Is that correct.

Ok installed pre-release and added new npvrtsreader5 file. Playback of the corrupt file now causes the video to freeze for a few seconds at the point of the corruption but then playback resumes without jumping into fast forward. So this looks like progress.
I know you don't really want to do anything with V4 but is there any chance of a patch for that (Given it does affect other users as well as me?)
Personally I will move to V5 in due course but have to convince the main user first (her who must be obeyed) ;-)

I live near TV transmitter and cell towers. I had been encountering the same problems with fast forwarding, audio video sync when playing recorded videos. Because of the proximity of the cell tower and TV transmitter, I was concerned about interference from the cell tower. I purchased and installed a LTE filter to filter out the cell interference. Since installing the LTE filter, I have fewer video problems in general and no longer experience most issues with video playback. I still have a problem with audio/video sync with videos that I have used comskip to remove commercials. Sometimes after the commercial skip the video will be out of sync. I can re-sync the audio/video by pressing the fast rewind button which I have set for a short skip.

The file with the same name should be there with the current NextPVR v5 build. Just replace the existing file like any other patch.
