New problem with IPTV channels in NZ

If you view the channel from VLC, via NextPVR, is it playing correctly that way?

http://localhost:8866/live?channel=611

(with whatever channel number you've got for it)

ie, that test is checking if the stream is working without the extra transcode step for the web app.

(I have a something you can try for the web app if that stream was working fine in VLC via nextpvr)

Gotcha, nice.

Yes, at present I can view it via VLC (http://myhostname:8866/live?channel=4) except it again has no sound on the video. Swapping to VLC of https://i.mjh.nz/nz/tv.28.m3u8 has both video AND sound, 100% repeatable at present.

If you stop nextpvr, edit your config.xml, and set<LanguagePreference1>default</LanguagePreference1>, does it help with watching in the web app? (it'll currently be 'eng')

I can certainly test that but before I do - the problem has temporarily resolved itself. That is, right now Prime via NextPVR/web browser is showing content and sound, unlike two hours ago.

It's been rarely correct in recent times though, so I'll make the change you suggest and see if it gets more reliable. Will report back in a day or so either way - or next time it goes wrong.

EDIT: changed to "default" and, after restarting the service, the intermittent fault is back - "transcoder exited" from the web interface. VLC of the local stream gets video, no sound.

Just to add a couple of things to this - I started having problems with SBS probably about 6 weeks ago but haven't had much time to play with it. I use the official SBS stream with DNS4me.

In my main V4 setup I can't get SBS to work when viewed live - I can however record a show and watch it back. For live TV I often just start record and then click on play.

On my test V5 setup I updated on the weekend I can view SBS in the web browser, but can't get it to work at all in the Windows client.

Any ideas or things I can provide you with to see if you can work it out? I watch a lot of stuff on SBS but a lot is recorded.

OK, a day on, for Prime in NZ:

Web browser interface to 8866: Prime fails, "transponder exited" - other channels remain fine

VLC to Prime via 8866 - video ok but no audio

VLC to the mjh.nz Prime URL -video and audio are fine

It basically came down to Prime is carrying several different streams, and it was making a bad decision over which one to use. I've put a fix in the for the next build, which should be out in the next 24 hours or so.

Unfortunately I don't have any easy way to test SBS, since I can't use it here without a VPN.
