I never got on board with the new fangled additive skipping thing, so I still have left/right for short skip and up/down for long skip, with those skips locked to 10 seconds and 1 minute.

I believe by default Kodi now has up and down arrows skipping 10 minutes, so if you skip forward with the up arrow on an in progress recording when you're less than 10 minutes behind live, I think you'll see playback bail out rather than catch up to live.

I did see this in testing but only when the buffer was showing that the current time was greater then my fake buffer. Not sure why anyone would want a 10 minute seek when they are showing fully to the right with no time available. I was testing with v5 perhaps v4 is slightly different.

I'd like to test something but I still can't compile for Windows. There is an alternate way to display an inprogress recording.

I think people are going to hit the long skip option when they're only 7 or 8 minutes behind from time to time. It also seems logical that skipping as far forward as you can would take you to live rather than dumping you back to the menu, so you might hit long skip to try to catch up to live as fast as possible.

The addon is great as it stands though - I've considered Kodi PVR functionality to be unfinished/broken ever since it came out in 2012 due to in-progress recordings not being usable. Thanks for your efforts.

Otherwise if you or the client stops within the default 8% of a recording in progress the resume point won't get saved.

Hi Martin,

I tried the link above and got "There is currently no text in this page.."

<ignorepercentatend>0</ignorepercentatend> Does this go in user settings?

It's in advancedsettings.xml and here's the link https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Modify_aut...ume_points

@JP23 Could you try this one?  I couldn't break it with the up arrow, just replace the dll.  When the addon gets no data from NextPVR it is hard coded to wait for a second for more data.  Because of that the UI does show some funny numbers as it adjusts the the actual time that it gets from NextPVR.

That seems to be working really well, I long skipped past the live point many times and playback never ended.

I'm finding that after these skips, playback resumes for a couple of seconds and then freezes briefly before resuming again, but that's not really a problem, and may be because I'm testing on a fairly weak client (Pentium N3700).

Seems good enough to put into 'production' to me, I'll see if the rest of the household manage to break it.

Have a try with this, it increases the delay but it only delays when NextPVR doesn't have data available from your tuner.

That is working fantastically well. The pause when skipping past the live point is reduced to just a split-second stutter, which I get after any skip anyway.

I couldn't get closer to live than about 6 seconds behind. Is that a real delay or is that because there's a fake buffer involved?

That's great thanks for the feedback. I generally don't see stutter on skip in Kodi recordings I am surprised to hear that.

There could be a couple of seconds since the start time is the database time before the file is opened and tuner starts streaming. You will be never be reading up to clock time either so zero is possible. That's actually a good thing because if the buffer is zero Kodi will drop you out. You can see that scenario if you start playing immediately after recording I also don't allow navigation if you start watching in progress right.
