XNewa on Kodi 18.8 on Android TV Jumps out Playing Show Currently Recording

LOL. The python (snaky thing) language version upgrade was addressed with the release of knewc. After that the kodi team seems to like pure code to the detriment of users and small developers but I guess it give it makes a better product in the long run. As good as Matrix is for PVR users I think it will be a slow process getting users to change.

I will package something up today if it works for you i might back port it to 18.8

Couple Q's while the SD Card is cloning.

1. knewc Matrix Alpha version - still here right? https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=61512 i.e. no repository yet?
2. Any recommendation as to which of Milhouses Kodi 19 Matrix builds I should use (I can always upgrade later). I really only use NextPVR and Netflix Addons on the RPi4.

Dont use any of the old builds you need recent nightly which is why Android is probably a better choice. There is no Matrix repo yet so you will need to install knewc rom a zip.

Unfortunately the only Android option I have is not feasible, WAF will drop too much ... SWMBO is watching the US Open Tennis right now... I'm not sure I can take any more beatings with the wooden spoon...

Hi Martin.

OK, I have the LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-9.80-nightly-20200911-16e68ab.tar installed for Kodi Matrix, works OK with Netflix Castaignet, and can run and see NextPVR via knewc 3.0.0 alpha.

However the not so good news is that the behaviour (playing a recorded file) is the same... i.e. drops out?
I was going to post the logs using the http://ix.io/CODE but unlike Leia 18.8 it does not seem to be secure and contains passwords?

I would have been surprised if it worked because you need the attached unreleased version.  

Also you have to configure knewc to use PVR for streaming instead of Native and you will need to install the Kodi pvr.nextpvr addon (because that is what the new mode uses) or else it falls back to Native.  For safety it should only use PVR mode if the recording is in progress. You can test it is working in Live TV if you can pause and skip.

I will need to do some work if it is a movie with a year. I just haven't gone that far to try those in progress.

OK... :-)... there seems to be a few streaming modes; Direct, HDHR, VLC with a host of settings ... and just PVR, I am going to assume this is the one.
Will drop in the new knewc and install the Kodi PVR Addon. Back in a mo'.

Right... I'm not getting past the 3.1.0 install.

I get a message saying dependency on script.module.dateutil version 2.8.1.1 could not be satisfied.
On the NextPVR client I did not see it in the Kodi Repository addons under Video or Programs Addons but I did find it in Libreelec Addons under PVR Clients as NextPVR PVR Client 6.0.5.1 - I assume is this the correct "Kodi pvr.nextpvr addon" you refer to?

Could you edit addon.xml in /storage/.kodi/addons/script.kodi.knewc folder and change 2.8.1.1 to 2.7.3
