No I don't know about it, but typically sites that have control of content can do a better job of customizing layout then applications like NextPVR that aggregates content and data from a variety of sources of unknown quality.

I think sub does a pretty good job of making sure that users get a similar experience even with minimum data. I would like him bring back episode art from xmltv though.

Quote:SVP could you edit your file and remove the duplicates from the DVB genres that you also added to the xmltv.ch section.   It might make it confusing.
I attached the cleaned file.

I added initially the duplicates from the DVB English genre, because they are used by my XML source for some shows.
It was to keep the info, in case I generate a file without the DVB genre, but this is not very useful.

I totally agree on the both points !

About the show artwork, in my opinion, users just need to see a poster related to the show when it is selected in the guide window. I do not think that is needed to download all artworks of all shows for the whole EPG, it could work like a browser do : just load the artwork "on the fly" when the user has selected a show.
Users can probably wait 200ms to get the poster  Big Grin
and with that process, the ressources used by the feature are very low, as there is no need to store the artworks on the SSD/HD, nor it request a long schedul process to download everything, that at the end have very limited usage.

The way artwork works in Kodi and NextPVR is to get the art on demand, although in Kodi that can include scrolling in the guide. That is why I have the Kodi default option to just show the channel logo. Where the program artwork is nicest is it is also used for recordings which look a lot better with art.

Jellyfin tries to get all EPG art and you're right this seems overkill to me espcially with 100's of stations.

It does request it the first time the user views it, but it caches it to disk because it's always much quicker to load it from disk than it is to go out to the network (particularly since URLs can change or get broken etc). The cache pays off the second and subsequent times you see the artwork for show.

The reason it's not using your xmltv artwork is because its the wrong shape. ie, it wants a portrait style poster, but xmltv episode artwork is typically landscape shaped, and often just a screenshot of a random bit of the show (with no title etc). This type of artwork is ok for episode specific purposes, but not good enough for representing a show in the recordings screen etc.

This is the artwork your xmltv provided for that show

In Kodi I request art by a user selected type since the EPG art can be either portrait or landscape depending on the skin. With SD this is fine, but with XMLTV I am not seeing the icon "src" art getting loaded into md5 field like it used to in v4

Ultimately NextPVR has to get the type of artwork it requires, and this xmltv show artwork doesn't meet the requirements, so it doesn't use it.

To bad this feature from v4 was removed as it worked fine before. There are a lot of users that use Kodi as their prime client.

I am one of those users, my HTPC+VP is my prime video device, from far. I use TV only for news.
