OK - downloaded & installed latest LAV x86. I am still having the same problem but I'm assuming I was using the x64 previously.
How do I check which one I'm using at the moment. Do I need to delete the x64 version - if so, how?
Sorry to be a pain.

No you can keep the x64 version, NextPVR wouldn't use it since it is a 32bit app. Sub will like need to diagnose the logs with the 32 bit LAV installed.

Does anything change if you rename the comskip file so NextPVR doesn't see it?

I've renamed comskip. I'll record a programme and see what happens when I play it back.
But I'm also getting the same problem with live TV.
