The photos in Joveplayer are not 256 colours. They are encoding the pictures as video clips, so are able to use as many colours as they like. This approach isn't really practical for menus, and definitly not possible for OSD overlaid over video.

I've said I'm artistically challanged many times, but you're welcome to develop your own skin if you like.

If you have 2 connectors on your TV and you really dont like it then how about connecting the computer to both connectors on the TV, one via the X-card and the other via the graphics card. That way, you can use your normal TV AV switch to look at the full screen at normal times and switch to the other when watching dvds etc
