Difference between 250 and 150

Where do you download a GOOD software decoder (although not overly worried as i am removing a PVR350 and putthing in a PVR150 or 500 and MVP's)?

you will get intervideo decoders with the card. Other decoders used by people here include those from cyberlink, elecard ,mainconcept and nvidia.

The WinTV PVR 150 is almost the same card as the 250. The 150 is newer and better. This is from a review:

"When rumors of the a PVR-150 series spread around the HTPC community we all wondered what is was, the lower model number made it sound like it was a feature reduced PVR-250. Well as the details of the PVR-150 and its' dual capture big brother the PVR-500 came out it became apparent that Hauppauge had simply refined the PVR-250 design. Thanks to the march of technology what once took separate audio and video digital-to-analog converter chips could now be done in one audio and video A/D chip, thereby simplifying the PVR-150's design. This meant the PVR-150 could be made for less money, and in turn the savings are passed on to us the consumer. What was more, the new A/D chip had better specifications, so the image quality of the PVR-150 actually had a shot at not just equaling the "gold standard" of the PVR-250 but being somewhat better. So the "150" in the model number didn't refer to feature loss, but it was more likely the "150" was meant to convey value, the 150 costs less then the 250. As with most new hardware initially not many applications supported the new PVR-150 and 500 series. Within a few weeks all major Windows PVR applications had the cards working. So now the PVR-150 is a very viable option."

PVR-250 has two different chipsets: Video and Audio this way cost more.
PVR-150 has one chipset: Video/Audio this way cost less.

This is interesting, is this way the 350 I have ends up after about an hour with out of sink sound to video???

1 chip would mean this in theory will be gone (no way of the sink moving due to minor discrepancy in the timing of 2 chips)???

Again i bet on paper 2 chips looks good but in rela life 1 works better (maybe)???

Like IDE and SATA, multi channel = IDE ... SATA = one data stream, on paper IDE is better in real life SATA can have a clock speed IDE could only dream about, real world = what looks worse on paper actual is much better??

many people have experienced the sync problem with the 350, myself included but whether this is because it had 2 chips (or 1) is impossible to say.

SATA is faster than IDE because it runs at a much higher frequency, having borrowed fibre channel technology that is used in enterprise systems.

My audio sync problem with the 350 went away when I moved to software decoding =)

According to the UK Hauppauge site here http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/pages/compare_pvr.html the 250 is the ONLY one not to have radio.

So which order was these made? (250, 150 then the latest is 350?) Odd way to number them isnt it?

I wanted to know the same question, i am in the UK so need a UK model for the PAL-I tuner installed...

Hmmmm, I have the 150 PVR. Where is the Radio function? Hauppauge says it has it. I don't see it.

Specific 150's have FM radio. The retail doesn't have radio but it does have a remote receiver. Radio appears to be on MCE cards only.

But, I recently bought the Hauppauge PVR150Mce uprade kit (150mce and a MS MCE remote/receiver). It did not include a FM tuner. Bummer for me because I assumed all the MCE's had the radio tuner. Obviously not.
