Excellent job Sub! Thanks for your help and patience. It's skippin a little but workin. It seems that when I do something like scroll the browser page up and down the radio is loosing it's stuff and dropping packets.

I did have the correct card config'd but I think I needed to reinstall the encoder.

Let me ask a possibly stupid question -- since I bought a PVR-150MCE, but I'm using it on WinXP Home SP2, does not using it on WinXP MCE make this FM radio tuner unavailable for use?

I ask because I've done everything listed above, and everything appears to work, except that I'm not hearing FM radio and I'm instead hearing the sound from a lower channel in my cable TV lineup.

I have a similar question...

Running Win XP, SP2 (not XP MCE)
No FM tuner on the menu
Using PVR-150MCE

I have the correct card listed in the config...
But there is no FM option listed on the menu.

I figure I dont have the lame encoder installed. I downloaded the file from the link http://www.elecard.com/ftp/pub/directsho..._dshow.zip, but how do you install it? (The zip file contains the file lame.ax) and I dont know what to do with it.

Well, keep in mind that the FM feature on my PVR-150MCE isn't working correctly (I hear TV audio and not FM audio), but I'm pretty sure I have the Lame encoder installed correctly (actually, I had it installed correctly with another MP3 editor, but gbPVR wouldn't recognize it):

Just create a folder where you want to permanently store the Lame encoder files (like c:\Program Files\Lame) and then unzip the Lame encoder files to that folder. Run the file reg.bat, and you're done. Do NOT delete the Lame files or folder though!

If I did this wrong, anyone can feel free to correct me...

Thanks Pilot, I'll give it a shot when I get home tonight. (and NOW I see that Sub mentioned that in a previous post... somehow I missed it. :o

And hopefully some one will have a fix for your issue... BTW do you have the FM antenna hooked up correctly? (The FM and cable inputs look exactly the same on the back of the card.)

Yes, I definitely have that wired correctly (or I probably wouldn't be getting as many TV channels). But thanks for the suggestions -- it's usually the little things that get me into problems.

I suspect my problem is most likely that the PVR150MCE will only do FM radio if it's installed in a MCE system rather than a regular WinXP Home system like I have. It's not that big of a deal for me though, as I'm more than happy with the Net Radio plugin feature of gbPVR. Definitely the next best thing to having satellite radio! Wink

Pilot, have you tried using the FM tuner through another app? I went to Hauppauge's website and downloaded the WinTv Radio32 app, it worked for me. I too am running Win XP Home SP2. (FYI - all of the software apps from Hauppauge are downloadable from their website even though they dont come on the PRV-150 MCE CD.

WinTV Radio32 download...

No, you dont need to be running MCE.

Are you sure you've got the right number of zero's in the frequecies you've configured? If its outside of (approx) 87000000 - 108500000, then you'll probably just get the audio from the last TV channel you watched.

Thanks, Zenner, I'll give that app a try, as I haven't tried to access the FM tuner through any other app. My previous TV card in my PC was a Kworld that had an FM tuner as well, but access to the FM tuner was provided through Kworld's equivilent WinTV2000 app. I assumed that Hauppauge's WinTV2000 would also recognize the FM tuner if it could, and since I haven't been able to get it to work via gbPVR, I just assumed it was a MCE thing.

Sub, I admit that I could be putting in the frequency is wrong. I tried to follow the instructions, but it seems to convert my input to something else. Again, I pretty much just gave up thinking I needed MCE, but I'll give it another go (first with the Hauppauge app) to see if I can get it working in gbPVR.

Thanks for the responses, folks!

Well, gbPVR is back to saying that there is no tuner available when I select the FM Radio plugin.

I found two different versions of the WinTV Radio app on the Hauppauge site -- neither will work with the PVR150MCE. It just goes into a continual scanning loop for radio stations and never finds anything. I even attempted hooking the TV cable up to the FM antenna port, because my local cable company broadcasts FM channels over the cable (which I know works because the receiver in my home entertainment system is using that as an "antenna"). I notice that the WinTV Radio app is not under the PVR150 download section. I am again beginning to suspect that FM will only work on the PVR150MCE when using MCE, but will not work when using the PVR150MCE on a regular WinXP Home box.

Has anyone successfully gotten the gbPVR FM Radio Plugin to work using a PVR150MCE and WinXP Home (not MCE)?
