Low cost PVR: Breathing life in older machine

Tiger11 I think it would be worth it to build a machine. For a $150 or so more you can get a faster CPU/MB, more ram and a bigger hard drive. 15GB fills up very fast. Plus if you want to record and watch at the same time what you have will be a little weak I think.

Sounds like my system specs may be similar to what you have already. I am quite happy. I think I would be happier with a different video card but I havent' felt like swapping in my 9600pro just to find out that I would have to actually spend money on my machine

I have a Celeron 1.1 Tualatin on an older BX based motherboard with 576mb of ram. Using the PVR150 and an older GeForce2 Pro card for TV out.

Runs fine on Medium settings, and seems to work perfectly fine timeshifting on Highest quality settings.

IMHO, test it out first. If it doesn't work for you, then upgrade stuff.
