Theses are pretty specific things. Yeah, sure heaps of these sorts of things are differnt. I wasnt trying to copy BeyondTV. In fact I've never seen it other than the screenshots on their website.

Quote:4. When changing channels using the interface, you can set it so the channel does not change until you click the 'change' button. This enables you to quickly scroll through the channels and view the descriptions without having to wait for the tuner to catch up.
This is similar to the mini guide, Ctrl-G.

Ya, every program will have its own little nuances.

Nice on the mini guide. Is there a list of keyboard shortcuts somewhere? I would have never found that.

One thing I noticed, in the mini guide it doesn't seem to show the name of the show. It shows the channel, channel name, and the description of the show. The name doesn't show up until you actually select the show.

Is this normal or is it maybe an issue with zap2it?

Thanks

Its probably just a bug. There were changes in that area in the last release. You can also use the live guide on F1 or guide button on the Hauppauge remote.

You can find a list of keystrokes on the wiki http://www.gbpvr.com/pmwiki

Cool that is handy.

I notice that things go into timeshift mode after you hit pause for the first time. Is there a way to toggle out of time shift without changing the channel?

Also, my guide only goes one day in advance. Is there a way to increase this? Or is it a zap2it thing?

Thanks.

When you configure a zap2it EPG, it usually loads about a week of data. Ctrl-RightArrow skips forward a day, or just keep holding the right arrow.

No, but from memory you can press Ctrl-O(?) to catch up to nearly real time

I think for finding things more quickly you will want to get the FastFind plugin. I think it's by itself as well as part of other plugins (like XRecord or something). Anyway, it does what you were talking about where you type in the name on a virtual QWERTY keyboard and things start filtering.

There's not much that GB-PVR can't do that other PVR apps can. Things will be slightly different, but I've found that GB-PVR has more nifty (if not even novelty) plugins than other PVRs.

GBPVR system info intentionally left blank because I'm personally
insulted that you can't remember it from previous signatures.

I tried Beyond TV (and SAGE) some 8 months ago and they were ok - but I had problems with using my MVP together with their applications - with GBPVR it worked right away with the same interface - very good.

I also believe I had some problems with filling the TVGuide.

Beyond TV has a nice feature that you can have clients on other PCs and start recording and viewing from them. I do like using the MVP instead because of no noise and it starts almost directly.

In GBPVR you can actually set new recordings (or delete etc) via webinterface. And I also think that you actually can install GBPVR with Xrecord on a PC without capture cards and then via Xrecord Xexport function - you can see descriptions of recorded shows - if you share the recordings directory. (I have not tested this myself yet - but I think it works - that way we have local clients as Beyond TV )

If you also want features like not recording duplicate episodes, or being able to give your recordings a specific priority like you can with BTV, then you will want to check out XRecord and the complementary CDK Scheduler that is included with it. Also, for knowing where you are at in the TV guide, check out Guide2J I think it has this feature as well.

GBPVR is probably the most stable PVR software I have used. My machine typical runs for a month or longer without being rebooted. Only time it typically gets rebooted is if I have a power outtage or am upgrading GBPVR.

I used to be a big fan of BTV...however their licensing for extensions sucks. I understand they are a commercial company and need to make money, but it really limits the incentive to develop plugins and features for it.
