blader_se Wrote:Thanks for your reply. Since I already have 6 units (projector,dvd-player,mvp,sound-system,TV,Sat), I've decided to go for URC-8910 (or maybe 9910) that can handle eight. But now I can't seem to find anyone shipping it to Europe (Sweden). The closest I could get was someone offering it for about $50 and asking $80 for shipping!!!

Anyone know where to buy it to get it shiped to Europe?

(This forum is really sluggish at this time of the day...)

Well, somewhere down that page they state that
Quote:Shipping: Currently, item can be shipped only within the U.S.

Hi there,

I had been going the JP1 route until I picked up a Harmony 676. While a bit more expensive than a JP1 remote, this thing definitely scores high on the usability chart and really high on the WAF chart as well. If you haven't seen these remotes, take a look here where I got mine from: http://www.yhrp.com or check out the demo from the logitech site (Since they now own Harmony).

That being said, (Hopefully this isn't against the forum rules, if so, please remove post at your discretion) I have a very lightly used Radio Shack 15-2116 JP1 capable remote. I honestly can't remember how long I had it, but I never got around to programming it for my equipment. Take a look at radioshack.com and search on that model number. If it interests you at all, let me know as I'll let it go for whatever the actual shipping cost is.

Again, I hope this isn't in violation of any of the forum rules. If so, please delte the post.

Watch out for this one. It looks like it has the "donut" navigation system. The navigation arrows were placed in a larger single button round arrangement. With the selection button in the middle. It's hard to explain but check the one-for-all website. and you will see the difference. From what I read its very hard to navigate with this one. Look for a later model that has seperate up, down, left, and right buttons. Much easier to move around especially in a HTPC setup.

Even with seperate nav buttons I still find I "fat finger" the up-arrow/power buttton. It got so bad I took it out of my remote config. I kept shutting down GBPvr.

I ordered two of these a week or so ago. They do not come with the donut navigator anymore (the picture is old). That model has been phased out for some time now.

Also the lights are no longer green but an redish orange.

Good deal. I read the donut sucked. Mine has the red/orange back light too. Great remote. Works well, plenty of buttons, and cheap enough to replace when our son puts it in the toilet.

blader_se Wrote:The number of remote controls have now exceeded the space of my coffe table, so I have decided to get a jp1 - one-for-all remote control.

Anyone that have any recommendations for what model to buy? The ones I've been looking at havn't been cheap, so I'd love to buy the right one straight away... Wink

Haven't heard about jp1?? Checkout www.hifi-remote.com/jp1

blader_se, do I understand this correctly; with a JP1 cable and associated software I can program my one-for-all 6 with more than the 25 codes it can normally learn? If that's the case then I take it that a normally learned code takes up much more space in the EEPROM than a decoded one using the software?

If this is the case then fantastic - I can finally configure the remote just how I want it! Even if not, being able to store my codes on the PC and program them via the PC will definately be well worth building the cable.

Cheers.
GB-PVR 1.0.16 (recording service and database) running on: VIA EPIA 5000 (533Mhz), 512MB, 40GB HD, PVR-150MCE, USB-UIRT controlling Sky Digital box.

GB-PVR 1.3.11 (front-end and client for above) running on: Toshiba NB100 netbook 1.6Ghz, 160GB HD, 1GB RAM.

Front-end viewed on 2xMVPs (using mvpmc dongle).

Anyone know of a programmable remote that would have the 4 colored buttons???
I grown used to them, plus I don't know how to do some of the functions in gbpvr without the colored buttons :-(

Assuming there are four otherwise unused buttons that are programmable, you could go out and buy some paint, and just paint the buttons. Granted, it might not last forever; but it would last a fair while, and could be redone if it wears off.

Basically yes. I had to learn from my old remotes 2-3 times to get every button learned (due to limited learning space) then I programmed the JP1 remote and all that space was free again (since it already had codes for my remote ;-)

Now if there only was a way of finding out the layout of the predefined codes. I would then not have to learn them all just to find where a specific button is located....
