I wasn't picturing popup sub menus like described in nkh's post, but rather additional screens just like the main menu. Picture a TV button on the main menu, which takes you to screen much like the main menu but it has 'tv guide', 'live tv', 'recordings', 'search guide' and 'main menu' buttons.

I voted for sub's menus.. [Image: tounge.gif]

when i say sub menus i mean sub's sub screens that he describes rather than sub menus as described previously. Meedio uses subscreens to great effect and they're still very quick whilst loads of buttons wouldn't be because you'd struggle to find the one you wanted.

Yes - subs sub menus is how I saw it rather than those windows start bar-like menus, and yes thats what I vote for too.

I'm definitely in favor of sub-menus!! But *please* include a back button on each sub-menu. Otherwise I cannot use my touchscreen. [Image: tounge.gif]

Yes, I consider submenus (-screens) the way to go. But please make sure that the typeface (buttons) used is large enough to be read across the room on a 28" tv.

Definitely multiple buttons for me. The quicker I can make my selection the better!

Is this (still) in the works?

If you are going to do some work on the menus, could you add support for selecting a menu item by pressing a number like on a mobile phone. i.e., 1 selects the first option, 2 the second etc. Especially in multi menu systems, this reduces the number of key presses to get to your screen and you get to know the numeric coes for the screens you use.

Thanks

Dai

PS - I'll look silly if you say it does this already [Image: smile.gif]

You can already do this, but only for 1-9.

At the moment it selects the requested menu option, but it doesn't activate it. There is an option in the next release, which when enabled, will also activate the menu item.
