Not sure if this will help but I was reading about these 2 versions of Bittorrent: Blog Torrent and Broadcast Machine which is built on Blog Torrent and is used for more advanced publishing and has a sourceforge page for developers. Also, Trackerless Bittorrent

I still like the FTP idea.
You can never have enough tuners!

Reboot,
What would you recommend as a good setup for a ftp server? Not in temrs of harware but rather software.

Allthough this is an excellent idea, I think this would get illegal and bustable very quickly if you have to setup a dedicated server for the p2p function. I live in Norway and there's lots of shows that's not availible her. So beeing able to just go into gbpvr and get it from someone who recorded it the minute it is finished recording is very appealing to me.

that is the advantage of the ftp server. It is a private group of your trusted friends.

yup. I didnt say it was easy.

But it is useful if you have a conflict. Or you miss a show. Power outage. Or if you want HBO from a friend. Smile

Personally, I agree the ftp route would be the best way to go; however, I'm pretty sure this would not fall under 'fair use'. Lending someone a vhs at work is one thing (to use the old analogy), writing and using a plugin that potentially connects 5,000 'members' is another.

(not necessarily my point of view, but being devil's advocate here)

In terms of 'trusted' use, maybe something tied to length of membership x no. of posts? Or by invitation only? I dunno.

Much as I would love a feature like this, I think it would be a bit dodgy and would raise a LOT of liability issues for sub and the plugin developer(s). Treading cautiously would seem to be the order of the day.

Maybe I'm just being an old woman...
