this way you can access your web-tv-guide by entering an address like http://whatever.you.like.dyndns.com.

you will need to run a little tool on your compy which periodically tells dyndns.com your public ip.

(never used it for myself, though... i have a static ip Big Grin )

Hi Betlit,

I installed the Mac version of DirectUpdate on my computer and everything works perfectly from when accessing Web Admin on my PC where GBPVR is installed.

However, I was just wondering if there's a web alternative to DirectUpdate. I am unable to install it on my work computer because my computer is locked down and I don't have the Admin rights to install the application.

Thanks,

Thanks, this really made my day.

I think that if your ISP supplies a proxy server for web access or you use a 'public' proxy for your browser, then you should be able to go out then back in for local testing purposes.

if you install orb on your pc server, it can also tell your what your public ip is while trying to set the speed. It also has an option to perform Wake On Lan, but I could not get it wake up my PC.

Anyone wanting to run their own domain on a dynamic ip should take a look at zoneedit - they allow you complete management of your domain along with a free dns client
